Hi, just got a dell Streak, uk O2 version which is unlocked. It has the O2 2.2 version on it without root.

I have come from a ZTE Blade which seemed simple compared to this lol. I have done a search and read several posts but I am unsure where to start.

I want to Root it and have clockwork recovery on it (or another recovery if that is not the best) Then I would like to put a different rom on it such as the official 2.2.2 or a custom one. Which custom one is based on 2.2.2?

Sorry if its been asked before.

Welcome! I recommend switching over to DJ Steve's StreakDroid 1.9.0 which was just released and is based off 2.2.2 (can be found in this forum). You can find a custom Clockwork variant for streak called StreakMod over on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840326

That's a good starting point, and should generate many more specific questions... :-)

Thanks will have a look. I downloaded the pdf what you need to know about the streak. I have the phone in fastboot mode and I am trying to put clockwork on it but it just stays at waiting for device.

When I type the following - fastboot –i 0x413c flash recovery recovery-clockwork-streak.img

All I get is - usage: fastboot [ <option> ] <command>

Ah it's not picking up the driver. You can first try going into device manager and looking for the unknown device, then selecting a driver from the list and choosing ADB Device under the "Android" category. If you don't have that category, download and install the Android SDK.

The streak says fastboot mode and device manager sees it as android bootloader interface but when i type devices i just get it is not a recognised command.

Forget that. I managed to perform root by using superoneclick. Then I installed clockwork via rom manager once rooted so just need to boot into clockwork and install the zip of choice, hopefully lol.

Rom manager says clockwork is installed but when you boot into recovery it just goes to the standard streak recovery??

Managed to flash the streak recovery and flash the latest streakdroid and the 0fficial 2.2.2 roms but both just boot loop? The 2.2.2 gets to the lock screen but either freezes like that or goes off and back to the dell logo and back again.

What am I doing wrong? Is the base band wrong?

Well, after several boot loops I tried a factory reset and it booted to 2.2.2 and seems to be working ok. No idea why it would not boot streakdroid. I am not currently rooted either but it seems a decent rom. I will have another go at streakmod another day I think :D

On the first reboot after you flash Streakdroid 1.9.0, do a factory reset. Also, give it a good 5-10 minutes for the first start. Streakdroid is pre-rooted... :D
