Guest i am not a hacker Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Will DarkTremors A2SD for the pulse work on this if i just flash it with clockwork? Do i need to make any partitions at all?
Guest Stooby Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 I'm using DarkTremor's a2sd with one of the older nightly builds (nightly 8). It works fine with that, but I haven't managed to get it to work with the later (from nightly 25, I believe). You still need to create an Ext2 partition. Note that the FAT32 partition MUST be the first partition, followed by the Ext2 partition. Hope this helps
Guest i am not a hacker Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Yeah that helps a lot. BTW, how many posts do you need to become a regular modaco member? Im a newbie and your a regular.

Guest Rotmann Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 You could have searched the CM7 topic for this or ask in the topic, this has already been discussed. Also, there is a special a2sd for CM7 which should work with all releases, if you install s2e (simple2ext) from the market and set it to install apps to your EXT3 (the second primary partition must be ext3 on the card) partition, it works pretty good. I quit using ext partitions because at every nightly update you have to install s2e again, some apps force close and so on. I recommend using wbaw's partition mod + classic FAT32 apps2sd, I have 80+ apps and games and still lots of free space.
Guest wbaw Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) I'm using simple2ext, no problem at all, no need to install s2e again for every nightly & not had a force close caused by it yet. Despite writing the partition mod, I'd recommend using s2e instead (but app data & dalvik cache can take up some room even with all the apps on sd, so I use both). A 512mb ext3 partition for apps seems ideal. Edited March 23, 2011 by wbaw

I'm surprised you had issues - it's worked seamlessly for me - and that's with Dark Tremor, as opposed to the officially sanctioned s2e :D.
Guest Rotmann Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) I didn't use darktremor's but some people report issues here. Had to install s2e twice after updating a nightly and all apps on the ext partition were gone, after installing s2e the apps were there again but some of them FC'd and I just gave it up. :D Edited March 23, 2011 by Rotmann
Guest JayGB1982 Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Was just about to ask if anyone was stuck on the green android at boot... Waited a few minutes and then along came the CM7 boot screen... Taking a while to load but could just be due to moving the cache and apps...
Guest JayGB1982 Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Well that seemed to go okay. Using s2e with a 512Mb EXT partition... Just need to work out if its EXT 2 or 3 Does CM7 support EXT 4? Also I ran an app called SD Tools and It's saying im only getting around 4.5 Mbps Write and around 10 Mbps Read times.. Are these value's okay to be using s2E ? If the card is going to become a bottleneck I'll replace with a more suitable class... These forums are great! Thanks for all the info / help / tips :D
Guest goatee Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 That could be a bottleneck - my results are 5.4MB/s write, and 94.9MB/s read. My card is a Sandisk 2GB card I got free with my HTC Hero, though it doesn't have a class rating on it. Well that seemed to go okay. Using s2e with a 512Mb EXT partition... Same here: from RC2 to n28 (through n21 and n26), i've never had a problem (losing apps, FCs,...) with s2e. Edited March 24, 2011 by Roo13
Guest Michealtbh Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 DTa2sd is working fine for mw on CM7 nightly 28. I had problems at first when I partitioned in cwm recovery so I formatted the card then used MiniTool Partition and it worked a treat. As a side note, this is a great app for DTa2sd users http://www.xda-developers.com/android/a2sd...arktremor-a2sd/
Guest Rotmann Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Same here: from RC2 to n28 (through n21 and n26), i've never had a problem (losing apps, FCs,...) with s2e. Hm, then I was just unlucky, twice... at two upgrades (I always check MD5 and stuff). No need for me to use that now though with apps2sd working and wbaw's partition mod.
