Hi,

i'm following the "How to Install a Custom ROM on the ZTE Blade" guide step by step and have run across a snag. Here's where i'm at:

Actions

Install Universalandroot from the APK you downloaded [check]

Launch Universalandroot from the App Drawer [check]

Choose Go Root [confirmation my phone is rooted]

Install ZTE-Blade Recovery Manager from the APK you downloaded [check]

Launch ZTE-Blade Recovery Manager from the App Drawer [check]

Allow the ZTE-Blade Recovery Manager App to have Superuser Rights [check]

Hit the Recovery tab. [check]

Now either click Update from the list - or on newer versions hit the MENU button on your device and choose update [updated from Menu]

Choose Install Recovery [check]

If you have more than one IMG file on the sdcard you will be presented with a list - choose recovery-clockwork-blade-2.5.1.8.img [check, but it's the more recent version---When i'm done, i get a message that says Currently Installed Recovery: Unrecognised.]

After this, i got to the Firmware tab in Recovery Manager and when i hit "Backup Current Firmware" command, i get an Error message that says i have to install a custom recovery before i can back up the Firmware. i've tried clearing the cache and redoing the root but it doesn't change anything.

Any ideas on what i'm doing wrong and how i can get the Clockwork Recovery loaded with Recovery Manager?

Thanks in advance!

you'll find doing clockwork stuff manually is better anyway so its good to get into it instead of using rom manager/recovery manager. specially if you screw something up and can't reboot the phone normally to go to these apps. just go straight into clockwork and reflash :D

I agree with you

i always have used fastboot method (i'm a linux fan )

But with new phones it's impossible to enter in fastboot mode

you have no choice you have to use recovery manager from sebastian

(A huge kiss sebastian you have saved my life )

me too facing the same problem as PJensi

I have installed the Universalandroot and rooted the phone.

Installed the Recovery Manager (0.34) with superuser access and updated the same.

Installed recovery (3.0.1.4)... i get a message that says Currently Installed Recovery: Unrecognised

Now the main problem is i am not able to boot in to recovery ... the phone gets stuck with the green android logo.

I cant even factory reset the phone as the phone doesnt reboot ... the phone again gets stuck with the green android logo.

I have tried everything written in the guide... double checked the MD5 ... the phone just doesnt reboot. I have tried it almost 9-10 times. Plz help

Have you updated the database in clockwork. I had this issue yesterday. Try menu update Database from within clockwork.

If you did manage to put Clockwork on (using Recovery Manager) then you should be able to choose the Reboot into Recovery option in the Recovery Tab
