Guest Danhandy Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Hey Guys, I received a Motorola Defy on a stupidly cheap upgrade deal with T-Mobile, the specification is much better than the blade however the blade has a larger community. What would you do in my situation, sell the Blade or the Defy??

Guest Danhandy Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) Which specs ? Sell the defy Well the CPU can be overclocked to around 1.3GHZ, has a dedicated GPU. I’m tempted to sell the defy, the high quadrant score is amazing though. Edited March 23, 2011 by Danhandy
Guest hecatae Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 I dont trust motorola when it comes to firmware upgrades, sell the defy
Guest Pelemane Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Which specs ? Sell the defy Defy has 800MHz processor. 5M rear camera with flash. And VGA front camera. 2 GB internal storage. 3.7" S-TFT FWVGA 854x480 Gorilla Glass display. So those specs are better than Blades but I love Blade so I wouldn't sell it :D
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Well i have just read the specs of the defy and the defy's one are amazing atyour place (and i'm a bigbig fan of the blade ) i would keep the defy

Shame I can’t convince myself that I need both hehe :D
Guest ronc2000 Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 It would depends on how much you can get for the DEFY. It should get more than double than the Blade. If you can get less than 50% more than the Blade, keep Defy and sell Blade. The only reason I did not buy the DEFY was that it was still on 2.1 If you cannot get 2.2 on the DEFY now, sell it.

Assume I’ll get £160 for the Defy, around £65 for the Blade. Motorola have rolled out 2.2 to the US now and plan to roll out here in Q2, however there are a few custom 2.2 roms over at xda including a sense one :D (Naughty naughty)

I agree - just had a look over on the Defy board of this very forum a very quiet place It looks like a nice device, albeit not a huge step up from the blade (the water resistant bit is somewhat appealing though...) I think I'd be tempted to flog the defy and save up for a replacement for the blade in 6-12 months - something really special where you'll notice the difference 600mhz -> 800mhz? mehh... I'd be holding out for a year or so til zte or their equivalent start crapping out bargainacious dual / quad core doohickies by the gazillion The Blade is the Spectrum to the Defy's C64. C64 was a better machine but the spectrum had the moves! Til the Amiga showed up and it was "bye bye spectrum"
Guest Frankish Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Personally i would love the Defy it is once nice bit of kit. It's a shame Motorola keep the bootloaders locked down etc so the community is a lot smaller for the Defy. I'd go Defy honestly. Send it my way :D

Ya cheeky snipe! :D Err, no I'm 12, honest, I, er, just read about em on wikipedia, or summat... TBH, I was a very young geek when my big bro got a spectrum
Guest ko0l Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 (edited) I'd say keep the defy, the cpu is apparently faster than the snapdragon qsd8250 ( the cpu in the htc desire) even though its only clocked at 800mhz. Theres also a few custom roms on xda, the only thing its missing compared to the blade is cm7. On the other hand if its still sealed it should still fetch for a pretty high value. Depends whether you want a faster device or if the blade is good enough for you. I sold my blade already cause it was too slow for me. Edited March 24, 2011 by ko0l

Guest Rotmann Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 I'd keep the Defy if I wouldn't need the money, although because of the encrypted bootloader, custom ROM development is crap. Your choice.

I had 4 Amiga's : 500, 600, 1200 and the CD32 I still have 2 500's in the shed now (with a 80 MB hard disk!)
