Guest Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Hi, Has anyone here been able to install the recently released Firefox 4 mobile on their Blade? Mine's not able to install it. It downloads a file with a .install extension from the website which is not supported by the phone.
Guest Maringer Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Requires an ARMv7 chip, I believe. The Blade has an ARMv6 architecture CPU.
Guest Azurren Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 The ARM6 experimental crashes on the blade too.. Been like that for ages now :D
Guest Maringer Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 As we're on the browser topic, has anybody tried the new versions of Opera yet? Too busy to muck around testing them myself at present!
Guest Azurren Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 The new (update) opera mobile app is actually excellent! :D Zooming and panning are now much smoother (Honeycomb style lag free :D) and text looks nicer. The whole browser is faster too! So.. Defiantly the best browser for the Blade so far!
Guest Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Ah! Crap! Suprised Mozilla would do that for firefox.
Guest vareBlade Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Its a shame that FF4 mobile doesnt work for us, and its worse when they wont even make a Firefox Home for the phones that cant "handle" FF4 mobile. Its like they dont give a dam about us :D ps: i asked if there will ever be a FF4 for Arm6 and their answer was: "it might not happen"
Guest YeftyBar Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 The arm6 isn't as bad as the arm4 one - arm6 is just unloved while arm4 support was actively removed. The Firefox sync protocol is open, so there's nothing but a bit of hard work stopping someone else implementing it.
Guest Xenon0816 Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 argh... wanted to test FF4 and noticed the same -.- ZTE Blade not supported :D
Guest Don-Ntinos Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 opera is the best right now with the new update...and pinch to zoom is very smooth on zte just try it :D btw i hate arm6 doesnt support almost nothing..grrrr
Guest Michealtbh Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Ive tried pretty much every browser and always come back to Miren
Guest Stevvie Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Ive tried pretty much every browser and always come back to Miren Me too ALWAYS come back to Miren
Guest richardkemp Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 I've been trying latest Opera and I too have returned to Miren, at least for now. I was getting weird issues with my touch input not going through to Opera, scrolling only occurring AFTER i release my finger from the screen, not during, etc. Weird since it worked perfectly for a few days, and no other apps have the same issue.
Guest simonsays1 Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Firefox runs quite slow on my superfast desktop PC so I wouldn't worry too much about it not working on the Blade. Stick to the built in browser, Opera or Miren.
Guest LordKickapoo Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Firefox mobile wasnt that great even at Nokia N900. Opera Mobile much better and faster
Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 All reviews on the market thus far say it's REALLY slow, so you're not missing anything.
Guest Bonbergol Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Have tested Firefox on a desire and it seems very laggy and slow In my opinion its still in beta so there should be massive impovements btw: is opera really good as you describe it? iam on dolphin but not very satisfied with it

Guest sej7278 Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 don't like the text rewrapping in the new opera mini its seems to try to rewrap text even when you're zoomed out when the text would fit normally anyway! turn that off and use pinch-zoom instead and its much the same as the default browser really. i never really liked opera mobile. not really fussed about no ff4, its not great on a regular pc.

New update to Opera claims to fix this
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 i have just installed opera mobile great app faster than skyfire
Guest Azurren Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Opera Mobile has really raised the bar B) I don't think I am the only one that just can't go back to using browsers like miren. Skyfire is only just bearable and only to watch videos with Miren? Meh.. Honestly don't see the appeal :D Have you even given Opera Mobile a fair chance? Although I love the text wrapping I can see how some could dislike it
Guest sej7278 Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 actually, i take it back - just tried mobile 11 and its way better than mini 6 now - its got the text wrapping working like mini 5 used to - mini 6 seems to have screwed it up. if you look at the specs sheet now, mini 6 is really lagging behind mobile 11 in features. with 10 vs. 5 it wasn't such a difference. i love the way it zooms in when you try to click a link that's close to another link - my biggest gripe about the google browser is fat fingers+small screens don't work!
Guest insurgente Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 starting to think i should move away from Dolphin.... is there an easy way to import bookmarks from Dolphin to Opera?
