Guest dj9928 Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 I had a play with a Galaxy S for a couple of days and in my opinion the blade is equally as fast, battery life is also around the same, I notice signal is better on the blade. Whats your thoughts?
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 The blade is a amazing device for its cost. The downsides to the galaxys s are the screen (same res, but the sgs one is better quality) and the processor. Try playing an intensive game on the blade (eg, asphalt 5) and then try it on the sgs, and you WILL notice the difference.
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 I have played with a htc desire Phone is not faster Same tasks same results but i have liked the bigger screen (especially in navigation ) humm zte skate ?
Guest targetbsp Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) Let me put it this way: a friend of mine is selling his Galaxy i9000 and buy a Blade after using mine lol. He has one of the batch where you can't get into recovery and it's hopelessly slow at launching apps without the lagfix in comparison to a custom rom'd Blade. Obviously the SGS will run games faster but he doesn't game. Edited March 23, 2011 by targetbsp
Guest Rotmann Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 (edited) I have had a desire HD here for a week, I will make a comparative movie in the week-end, I am not very impressed with the DHD, sure it's cool but it still stutters in the app drawer and in the browser. It's definitely faster and better than the blade, but not 4-5 times, as the price would suggest. Maybe 25-50% I thought it would blow the blade away, but it just did not. Keep your eyes open, will open a new topic, Blade vs Desire HD, David vs. Goliath. Edited March 25, 2011 by Rotmann
Guest BArtNimal Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 My gf has a desire. I would swap my blade for her phone in a second if i would have the chance :D menu speed and general phone speed is similar but when it comes to complex webpages the desire flies compared to my blade. (i`m on cm7 and she's on stock sense). same goes for some games (gun bros springs to mind). still i`m not saying i`m not happy with my blade or that its not a great phone, but given the chance i`ll swap it instantly for a sgs or desire, etc. i do think that those phones are overpriced and cant wait for a cheap clone of them :D
Guest isambard Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 i bought a desire Z for daily use and bought my gf a desire (with 2.2 rom). i can say that for normal use the phones are comparable in speed. my main gripes with the blade are: - unreliable touchscreen - wifi issues both are deal breakers. for me the physical keyboard was another factor funnily enough, my gf preferred the exterior design of the blade and thought it looked better. wifi was not an issue for her, but the unreliable touchscreen put her off the blade. she thinks the sense ui is friendlier to use.

I look forward to that. and what you say is correct I have also tried the desire hd and I was not all that impressed. for me personally it only defeats the blade when it comes to high spec performance. dont get me wrong it is better at other things but not by much. :D
Guest Ron=) Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Are we all forgetting that Blade camera = Fail :/
Guest steveuk1981 Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Are we all forgetting that Blade camera = Fail :/ Tbh the camera doesn't bother me, i don't think i've even used it. I use my phone as a phone and a separate digital cam as .......... a camera :D
Guest DanWilson Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Doesn't the Blade have an 800MHz processor? How does it feel that I can have double that? And I haz a keyboard. And a good camera. And a flash (Dunno if you have that). And Flash 10.2. And a search button. And GingerSense. Sure, I think the Blade would be great on a money conscious basis, but if you have money, go for gold.
Guest dibbles Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Are we all forgetting that Blade camera = Fail :/ That alone put me off for such a long time in buying one. My previous phone with xenon flash etc was very good. However I then realised that it had been months since I last used the camera and so I took the plunge. I don't regret it for one minute :D
Guest Scoopading Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Doesn't the Blade have an 800MHz processor? 600Mhz. How does it feel that I can have double that? Overkill? A battery drain? :D It's kind of like my i7 CPU. I make use of it for audio and video processing. If you run high end apps (or games to a lesser extent) you'll notice a huge difference. But if you're just reading a web page, playing an mp3, word processing, or even watching a flash video it's mostly just sitting there doing nothing. In short it's overkill for an awful lot of people. The only things I wish the Blade had a faster CPU for are official 10.x Adobe flash support (and that's only for some video like the BBC, it's actually a blessing it's gone from web pages!) and when you hit some complex websites. The rest of the time I don't actually notice any problem with speed now that I'm running CM7. CM7 on the Blade actually feels smoother than a stock Samsung Galaxy S experience to me, although (granted) the Galaxy will hammer it when it comes to running 3D content like games etc. The Blade, on CM7, copes with things like Angry Birds fine too, so it's ok for the vast majority of current apps out there. Eventually there will be many more things (video conferencing etc) the Blade can't run well (or at all). But it's good enough to let me sit it out for a while and wait for something significantly better (dual core, better camera etc) at a reasonable price and not feel like I'm missing out on a whole lot :D
Guest ezablade Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 What is the point of all these "How does the Blade compare to a.....?" threads??? In what other area would you expect to go on a forum for any type of product and ask users how their kit compares with other kit priced at 3 or 4 times the price? Simple, you wouldn't. If you want to see how the Blade compares, try this... find all the other £89 Android handsets out there and compare to the Blade... when you've done that, realise just what a great phone it is for it's price. Stop comparing the Blade against other, more expensive phones, it's pointless. We all know it has it's shortcomings, the camera being the most obvious. Personally, I use a camera for taking photos, not my phone, so don't care flying f*** about it. No Flash? So what, I turn Flash off on my laptop and Youtube works great anyway. All you need to know is.. dump the Orange crap off it, get a 2.2 or 2.3 ROM on and enjoy Android at a bargain price. No more comparing Ford Fiestas to BMW 5 series or £300 26" TVs to £1,000 50" ones. Rant over.
Guest dj9928 Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Here is my quadrant score. It seems to stack up very well against the Desire and Nexus one
Guest targetbsp Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 (edited) Here is my quadrant score. It seems to stack up very well against the Desire and Nexus one Well yeah... but you're comparing gingerbread (or froyo with stagefright enabled) against a stock nexus one and Desire. Look at the Nexus One with a proper rom on it. (Hint: it's the top one!) Edited March 27, 2011 by targetbsp
Guest waj1234 Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Well yeah... but you're comparing gingerbread (or froyo with stagefright enabled) against a stock nexus one and Desire. Look at the Nexus One with a proper rom on it. (Hint: it's the top one!) I just sold mine and my vega tablet to get a dell streak and its a great device and very fast but two very different devices. I still like the blade and my wife has one. My quadrant score was at the top at 1975 with a custom rom so cant complain. But the blade is one of the best phones in the bottom price range if not the best at the moment. Plus there is such good support for it. Its always busy here and its almost dead in comparison on the streak forum :D
Guest wolverine73 Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 The iPhone4, Nexus, Desire HD all wreck the Blade in performance - and so they should costing that much However, 'pound for pound' the Blade is regarded as one of, if not thee best phone ever. It can do 90% of what top end phones can do at a fifth of the price! Awesome :D
Guest Rotmann Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Are we all forgetting that Blade camera = Fail :/ Actually on daylight it's pretty good. And no phone camera comes even close to a cheap dedicated camera. If you ask me, the DHD camera is FAIL too.
