curl http://android.git.kernel.org/repo > ~/bin/repo

// please anyone, when this will be availible, any news? :) If the was stoopid noob question, just ignore :D thanks

as kernel.org got hacked, google wanted android.git.kernel.org taken down to be rebuilt from backups.

even linus is working on github temporarily so i don't expect android is high priority, probably a couple of weeks.

What are the issues with n178 ive been using it for 2 days, seems pretty good to me no problems so far

maybe it was just me but i was getting reboots all the fecking time, and i've rarely ever had them. n179 seems ok, although i've not used it much and i can't see what in the changelog would have fixed reboots, so probably just a bad flash for me.

actually, i've been playing with config files, and in .repo/manifests/default.xml change this bit to http://android... instead of git://android...

  <remote  name="korg"

   		fetch="http://android.git.kernel.org/"

   		review="review.source.android.com" />

and this works for me to fetch the repo file (kernel.org are switching to https for android and some others)
curl https://android.git.kernel.org/repo > repo

i don't know if this will work for setting up the initial git download, but if you've already got the cm7 repo, this will allow you to sync (i checked and it downloaded the new stuff marked as "merged" in gerrit).

its up and down for me - when i first tried it went fine, now its stopped, tried https and it died at 3%, gone back to http and it looks like its stuck at 71% or just incredibly slow.

after 10 minutes of sync.... "error: Exited sync due to fetch errors"

EDIT: changed to http... incredible increase of downloading/processing speed

New recovery

Flashing recovery is generally pretty finicky from within Android, if you have a problem booting into recovery after flashing, try flashing again. This fixes it 99% of the time.

Current known issues, please clarify if I am mistaken:

G2/Desire Z will flash recovery successfully and boot into recovery, but sometimes get stuck on the HTC splash screen.

Many ROMs are reporting loss of root when restoring a backup. **This has been fixed in 5.0.2.0**

Droid X users are getting stuck on the M logo on .602 stock ROMs. This seems to be intermittent, as my testers are not having this happen. What bootstrap are you using? What is the install order of root, bootstrap, and rom manager flash?

Menu bug Even if you select no during wipe dalvik cache, it still says it wipes it (it is not actually wiping it, it is just a display bug). **This has been fixed in 5.0.2.0**

new kernel is nowhere near ready for cm7, i don't even think anyone is working on it for cyanogenmod yet - i got it to boot, but it toasted my sdcard and adb didn't work.

the graphical issues are fixed, but its only really working on gingerleak roms now.

To whom it may concern,

I've not been following this thread for a little while now so you may know this already, but here goes, I'm on the latest nightly N179, and the notification light works!!!!!!

Not earth shattering news I know, but it is nice to have that feature back.

Anil.

Cheers Anil, that's reason enough for me to update from n171!

It's earth shattering to me! Best feature CM7 had. :D Was there a kernel update then? I'm away atm though so can't try it and I planned to give overclockable GSF a whirl when I returned. LED notification will keep me on CM7 though :D

hi anil, long time no see - are you sure its back, even when the screen is off?

i know the kernel hasn't been fixed but there was some framework stuff in 178 regarding led's by cyanogen-steve himself.

Hi sej7278, I have a new handset, an LG O2X which is why I've not been around. All I can say is if I send myself a text message via Skype, the notification light blinks for at least 5 mins. Gmail doesn't seem to work, but I think that's because of the changes in the Gmail API. Most, if not all Launchers can no longer display Gmail notification badges in the dock bar. Please check for yourselves to confirm or deny this feature is back.

Hopefully Google will sort out the API for the devs ASAP, it's already been 2 months since the changes.

Anyway, this will probably be my last post in the ZTE forum. My sincere appreciation & gratitude to the many many kind people who have helped me in the past. And if I have rubbed anyone the wrong way on my travels, my apologies, it was never intentional.

Ciao. Anil.
