Anyone know of any apps which gives you a realtime balance of your bank account + statement (UK Banks)

I have found Pageonce - http://www.pageonce.com

It works with UK Banks but has the following problems:

- Displays the correct balance but uses $ symbol instead of £ symbol.

- It thinks my bank account is a credit card, so thinks the balance is a bill.

Any info on other apps would be great.

I think this is an area UK Android users are really missing out on.

Personally I think you'd be mad to put your bank account details in any android app.

You've no idea who is gathering those logins.

Add to that the scope for the phone being lost/stolen.

What happens if I lose my smartphone?

If you ever lose your smartphone, you can use our "Remote Data Destruct" feature via your account at www.pageonce.com to disable the access of any account information from the missing device. Your account information will be automatically deleted from all of your smartphone apps so that no one can access your data.

I find it funny when people say the same about PC Password managers.

"Omg you save your password?!! That is so unsafe" yet most password saving services are secure. Typing your password out each time increases the risk that it'll get key logged tenfold

There is always a chance one will infect your pc without your knowledge. Using a password manager means that at least they won't log your saved passwords :D

A bit off topic but again, it is probably saver to use a "good looking" app than keep sending your password data over insecure wifi / 3g

Plus that way you don't have to type your password around people.. Whats the chance one of them has a photographic memory? :D

My mate has just installed it and it is coming up with a £ symbol, he is using an o2 HTC Desire.

Could it be something to do with the ROM making the app think its in the US?

"What makes Android platform more vulnerable when compared to Apple’s OS?"

That one line sums up that entire articular. I have NEVER heard of ANYONE getting any form of android virus :D

There have been some malicious apps kicking around (Usually Warez) that cost you money but that's about it

If the app is good, it has a password and the information on the device is encrypted.

I have been using S-Banking on the good old Windows Mobile for a long time and now for 6 Months on Android, it's brilliant, you can manage more accounts, just perfect. Don't know if it works for banks outsite Germany, you should try it though, it has a free version limited to one account and the paid version is very good.

Err, I wouldn't be typing internet banking details into a phone either. Stick to PCs where we can check for spyware/viruses

Because apple vet every single app on their store.

Anyone can create and publish an app on android.

Who needs keyloggers when you are willing to hand over your login details to anyone who can write an app.

I'm sorry, but internet banking on mobile phones is madness. Your risk at the end of the day, but dont expect any bank to give you any sympathy if you've entered your details anywhere other than directly into their website on a virus-checked PC.

I agree. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

I think you are just paranoid. Do you think apple checks the code of the apps? They just do a surface check, it is not that relevant for safety you know. Trusted apps like S-Banking or Star Banking are from known trusted software developers (desktop apps too), if you take care what you install and open your eyes you shouldn't have problems.
