I'm please to make the latest (*at time of writing) LG 2X baseband release available for your use in SmartFlash format. You can check your current baseband in your device's 'About' page.

Please note that you use this at your own risk!

Installing this file WILL fully wipe your device, including the Internal SD. Back up!

SmartFlash for P990 is for use on Windows PCs.

To use P990 flash to flash this baseband:

  • Download the utility file below
  • Download the driver file below
  • Download the baseband file below
  • Run the SmartFlashTool_P990.exe application on your PC
  • Turn device off, remove battery, plug device in while holding volume down - you should see a software update message on screen and the COM port should be filled automatically in the flash application below after installing the drivers if required.
  • Select the 'ROM Copy D/L' tab
  • Ensure 'Normal Mode' is selected
  • Ensure 'Erase CAL' is NOT selected
  • Click the browse button next to 'CP Bin:' and select the baseband (FLS) file
  • Click 'Start' and wait for the flash to complete

Same here, this install makes a FULL WIPE of all items, including internal SD.

Almost three minutes and now my 2X is turned off:

"2:57.6 Sec: "Download complete!""

I think I'm safe. Puh! ;-)

Let's see if I can restore my backup now with clockworkmod and check if call quality improved any (since it's the biggest problem with my 2x right now, call quality is horrible).

Is the hash right?

Mine is:

MD5: 9B6F600CFA9F528595E5106305770448

SHA-1: 5BA8600D7F181EE71193607C353B07135DE41DF7

SHA-1: 5BA8600D7F181EE71193607C353B07135DE41DF7

Mine is also: 9B6F600CFA9F528595E5106305770448

And it failed halfway though and has broken my radio. I now have baseband ver: "unknown" and no radio function at all.

But now it's finally worked - on the 5th attempt! 4 x timeouts part way though the process and one auto reboot boot-bounce (no battery). I could load Android after the failed attempts but had no radio and the battery was 999% (nice).

Apparently you have reversed a md5 code:

erreurmd5.jpg

Smarflash drivers md5 <> Baseband md5

But in this case, what is the md5 code of Baseband?

Is it going to be possible to make a "CWM image" to flash the radio in the future instead? Like on HTC? It would be alot easier, and also it would be nice not to lose everything. (Yeah, I know I can do a backup, but still)

Baseband is recognized correctly, but here in France (SFR), UMTS is not functional. I tried with another operator (Bouygues), but the UMTS does not work either.

In fact after a little research, UMTS is not active in the baseband, it is replaced by WCDMA.

Another problem found my battery was at 72% after the update, it was 97%! Such a gap is too big for it to be possible.

Edit: After a restore via CWM, it works with the baseband.

I don't understand why there was this error.

I got some odd error after flashing mine, unfortunately it was one of those quick popups in the bottom, something about modem not being initialized.

Everything seems to be working though.

For anyone experiencing problems on Windows 7 64bit, i had the problem that smartflash crashed halfway through, witch left my phone unable to call etc.

I installed Windows XP Mode (Virtual PC) and tried everything again, thankfully this worked. :D

Thanks for the warning. what i did to flash it succesfully is set the compatibilty mode of the lg app to windows xp sp3 under windows 7 64 bit.

It this really worth the effort? I'm thinking of the troubble of restoring apps and settings...

Just wiped the phone, installing a freshly baked ROM, and I'm not sure I'm up for the job quite yet...

Can anyone report a significant improvement in battery life? If so, I might just give it a try...

I'm from the Netherlands, can I flash this without problems?

And when something went wrong, or the baseband is worser than I have now, can I get my old one back with a backup for example?

Kind regards!

Not sure if I'm doing anything wrong, but all i get is this:

00:00.0 Sec :Download Start...

00:02.6 Sec :RomBinary Download start

00:02.7 Sec :PSI RAM writing start

00:12.7 Sec :Timeout error is occured

00:12.7 Sec :error!

I've tried running it in compabilitymode (xp sp3) and normal w7 64, just keep getting the same error..

Nevermind, it jus decided to work :D
