Best Way to wipe phone and restart?

Hi, I have previously posted regarding an issue with my streaks ability to make and receive calls and sms and have still not got to the bottom of the problem.

My next question is, is there a way to completely wipe the phone of all firmware and reinstall a completely clean version with all drivers etc??

Would a custom ROM do this and which is best if so?

I'm wondering whether there maybe a firmware issue with the phone and this is whats causing the phone to faill on calls? I have read quite a few posts regarding the same fault but as yet nobody seems to have come up with a definitive answer.

Does anybody think that this may work or am I aiming in the wrong direction?

Any and all advice would be welcome.

Flashing a stock rom will delete everything except .android_secure and the sdcard...

Do you think that flashing it with steves custom rom will help or am I just clutching at straws now?

I'm struggling to work out what controls the calls in and out as the radio must be working as it picks up a signal.

Have tried custom diallers (go contacts) and still get the same problem. :D

i think you have a hardware fault..

if it doesn't work properly after a flash and with no sdcard in, then it cant be software.
