Guest Mug UK Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 (edited) A mate saw my ZTE Blade running Android 2.2 and was impressed with the ability to run apps off the SD card. So today I was given his (nearly new) Next 10" tablet with the words "see if you can get that doing stuff like your phone" ringing in my ears, I took it home. Oh ... dear ... a quick Google came back with more than a few reviews along the lines of "take it back" and "it's not worth £1.80 let alone £180" etc. I'm glad I didn't buy one (even at almost £70 off what Next still want for them!). I'm guessing it's a Chinese export badged for Next but what is the real model underneath the hood? In order to help make my friend's erroneous purchase look at bit better - is there anyway to put 2.2 onto this tablet and make it a bit more useful? It's got very little pre-installed but with 2.1, I'm stuck with the 512MB it came with and can't do much with his 8Gb SD card he gave me. Anyone able to suggest a ROM I can use - or is there an official update I can run? There's nothing obvious on the Next website (no real surprise there though). Edit: just done a search on Elonex's website (the seller of these devices does a lot of Elonex stuff) and this device looks to be a spit of the Elonex eTouch Table 1000? Same buttons and connections in the same places: http://www.elonex.com/products/computing/e...00et-700et.shtm Edited March 26, 2011 by Mug UK
Guest Mug UK Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Problem solved - it is really a ZT-180 in disguise. Firmware found elsewhere, updated and it's now running a lot better, albeit Android 2.1 still. But 2.2 is out there somewhere ... just got to keep on Googling :D
