Guest aiiro Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Sorry about making a new thread about this but it seems googling doesn't help much. So, newbie as I am and just flashing my first (phone) ROM last week I was simply wondering, is it possible to install i9x0 CABs to B7610? I am talking mainly about the dialer, which has the backspace key in a more convenient place on i9x0 it seems. Altough I wasn't able to find a i9x0 dialer CAB, I am curious anyway. And if it is possible, could someone guide me regarding the CAB. Thank You in advance. Voice settings in question here - http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-h...lack-skin-cabs/ vs
Guest sakisds Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 It won't work 99%. B7610's resolution is 480x800, much larger than i900's which is 280x400. There is a slight chance that it will work but it will have to resize the graphics, making them look bad.

Well, the graphics is something I didn't even think of, because I didn't imagine that i9x0 has low res screen... OK, that's probably the answer, because even if I would replace the images with bigger ones in the CAB file, it will probably still not work. Thanks for the answer.
Guest Sumit Bhardwaj Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 It won't work as the placement of the buttons is controlled by a dialer DLL file. That file, if taken from a phone with smaller res, wont map the coordinates of the buttons right. So even if graphics is resized, the dialer wont work.

OK, that's final then, if it's coming from You :D Thanks for clarification! Although it's a shame that those dialers are always designed as "something users will (have to) love", instead of "let's make this really configurable and let the user decide some of the layout". I guess I'll have to live with the backspace button on top, but since it is an option, I would dare to ask some more - are there any other Samsung dialers that have WVGA layout, backspace on bottom and supports video call and call recording? :D The probability of that is probably somewhere below 1%, but I'll try my luck...
