Stuck on 1.5

So i tried putting a custom rom on, all ok except i couldnt get android market, ask how i got it and everyone said install the plus packs, i had already done so and the market was not there!! so i decided i would revert bk to the factory rom, so i copied the dload folder from the december 2.1 update onto the memory card and pressed vol up and red button and the update ran, and restarted. phone boots but im now on 1.5, redownloaded the december update tried the settings sd card update and it does so and still its on 1.5!!" help! have tried to get the update rom the t-mobile site but the lick is dead!

And if you flash the 2.1 update and it's succesfull you can't be still on 1.5, you probably flashed the December update or the time machine.
