OSF Screen doesn't always "wake up" problem

Hi all,

I am new here although I've been reading and absorbing a lot of the posts and threads here in preparation for getting my new OSF which I['ve had for a few days now.

So I've unlocked, (Clockwork latest) rooted, flashed and removed all the Orange stuff and installed first CM7 nightly 28 and now 31, and all is/was well or so I thought -

there's one big annoying problem I'm having with my phone and I don't know if it's software (ie: the ROM I've chosen) or a hardware fault..anyway: the problem:

sometimes after not using the phone for a while and I click the power button to wake up the screen it just doesn't do anything = blank. The home, menu and back buttons light up but even clicking those doesn't do anything. The only way I can get phone back into a usable state is to remove battery put in again and switch on again...until it happens again. I'm a complete Android/OSF newbie but I'm pretty sure I've followed every tutorial correctly so I'm at a complete loss here as to whether it's a problem with the phone itself? Any ideas please?

Much appreciated any responses, thanks

btw it's Gen1 tft

Mine's doing this using CW7 RC2 at times. I missed a call earlier as I could not answer the thing. I was fine with the FLB ROMs that I was running & I'm very tempted to go back to one of them.

Thanks for the replies guys, seems it was a CM7 bug then. Oh well, put on another ROM last night (FLB-Froyo r11b) and no problems so far :D

I'm having the same issue. Have to take out the battery to get it working again.

I'm still on the stock rom (out of fear for the b10 issues). Phones about a week old.

I'm having the same problem as well, phone is on the stock B10 rom, had it just under two weeks. Haven't seen any more reports of this until now so seems as though it is a new issue

It's a bug in CM7, pull the battery, restart & wait for them to fix it in a later version, or install another rom.

Isn't CM7 one of the custom roms? My phone has the standard Orange rom that it shipped with and I still have the problem. Apologies if I have misunderstood

Just to add a few more details to this issue, I left my phone on all night as I was using the alarm clock which went off at 6:30 as it was supposed to. I dismissed the alarm and didn't touch the phone again until about 8:30.

This time I noticed the back button was flashing and seemed to be cycling through green/orange/red. Pressing the power button caused the home and menu buttons to backlight to come on but nothing on the screen.

When the back light on the buttons had timed out putting my hand over the top of the phone where the light sensor is caused the buttons back light to come back on so it seems like there is still some response from the phone.

I tried covering and uncovering the sensor and pressing the power button several times but both of these actions just seem to "wake and sleep" the buttons back light.

While the phone was in this state I rang it from another phone. From the phone I was dialling from I heard the ring tone and eventually the answerphone but no call was received by the handset.

As before the only "fix" was to remove and replace the battery and restart the phone.

Going to contact Orange this morning and see if I can get the phone replaced.
