Guest qwertymz Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 (edited) Hi all, Need advice on how to proceed. Have been running JJ pretty smoothly since I got my phone about a month ago, but it seems to be slowing down now, most noticable when typing. It also randomly losing internet connection, whether it's WiFi or 3G, and it's generally turning out to be quite unreliable. Also, I keep on saving new words to my keyboard, which keep on getting lost! I can use them a couple of times, and then they seem to delete themselves. Odd. I'm considering turning to another ROM - I want something stable and fast, with good battery power. I would consider the Gingerbread ones, or SS, but I don't think I would enjoy the constant updating. Should I stick to JJ, or is there an alternative I could try? I've looked at the ROM list, but really, I want user experience here. Thanks. Edited March 28, 2011 by qwertymz
Guest KidX Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 I never tried JJ so can't compare, but I have been thoroughly impressed with SS and it seems many others have too. It's very responsive and my wifi connections have been stable. It's also rock-solid in terms of stability so far. As for the keyboard, perhaps try swiftkey if you haven't already.
Guest ronc2000 Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 I have been using JJ9 and nothing else. I have no issue and I am not switching to any other presently available roms.

Thanks. there must be a problem with your blade as there are no such problems with jj. try complete wipe and fresh install If you do decide to change roms,i would advise swedish spring r3,very stable. Guest Maringer Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Also, I keep on saving new words to my keyboard, which keep on getting lost! I can use them a couple of times, and then they seem to delete themselves. Odd. As I understand it, words added to the dictionary of the HTC keyboard are not saved following a reboot. Perhaps this is the problem you are encountering? There is a workaround which involves exporting then re-importing the word list but this is too much of a pain in the neck, if you ask me. I've found the Gingerbread keyboard better to use than the HTC one, in any case, and Swype is good if you can get on the beta programme. Never quite got around to reinstalling Swype since I've been on CM nightlies, however!

Guest hugobosslives Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 definitly try cyanogenmod-7 as its soo much better but if its not for you i personally reccomend r12 if your not bothered about overclocking (most stable for normal people), or SS RSL3 or FLB G2 if you want a bit more.
Guest AP707 Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Yeah I moved from JJ to FLB and now finally to cyanogen 7. Personally finding cyanogen really good.
Guest qwertymz Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Isn't Cyanogen the Gingerbread one? I'm a bit wary about updating to a non-stable release, as I'm assuming I'd have to update/format constantly...
Guest hugobosslives Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 nah its alright. has some issues still but nothing major like in earlier nightlies. try it for a day and if you don't like it just restore a nandroid of what your currently on. you can't lose :D
Guest qwertymz Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 I'll try. Which is better for battery life, SS or Cyanogen?
Guest sambartle Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 (edited) I've been running Modaco r12 from day one of owning my Blade and haven't found a single problem. (and I don't mean nothing major.. i've found nothing at all!) I'm a flashing addict and have had to build custom roms for most of my previous phones to work round annoying issues I've found.. (including some in the Modaco Hero ROMs.. and all my windows mobile ones before that ) but this one is seriously awesome.. Rock solid stable, and fast enough for me. It really is excellent. Guest hugobosslives Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 (edited) I'll try. Which is better for battery life, SS or Cyanogen? Meh. Depends what you do. If you don't overclock SS and use it as a 'phone' i would say SS. Though if you use the roms for better things, such as games Cyanogen wins hands down on smoothness and to me they are about equal on battery (with the better battery life CM7 nightlies) try cyanogen. I bet you will LOVE it. I've been running Modaco r12 from day one of owning my Blade and haven't found a single problem. (and I don't mean nothing major.. i've found nothing at all!) Indeed r12 is excellent. throughly reccomend for first timers. though lacks advanced features like overclocking and isn't as good for high-end games Edited March 29, 2011 by hugobosslives
Guest qwertymz Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 On Cyn. now and you're right, I ABSOLUTELY love it. Some issues though, but I love it.
Guest qwertymz Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Question about cm7.. in JJ I had the stock alarm app. Is this available in cm7? I know I can access it through clock but its not as convenient! Thanks.

Haha knew you would like it. yer just rip the file out of an old rom that has it, such as the orginal rom, or SS. then install the zip using clockwork :D
