I must say that this has been BumbleBee work, not me. He is the one that modify the wifi module to not unload in standby. But have in mind that this will impact neg. in batt time.

Yes but in Buzz ROM you don't actually have the option to turn that feature on do you?

Dude,

You need to make it more clear what features are added by buzz in particular in your main post.

It seems BUZZ'S hard work is not getting the credit it deserves. By slapping your name on a rom implies most of the significant changes are done by the owner.

I suppose every little helps us Vegans so look forrward to newer versions.

Cheers

Something to bear in mind with this. Corvus has always stated that his Kernel is based on the Buzz kernel (which this feature was originally added in). But having the ability to do this in the Kernel means NOTHING if there is no setting within the ROM itself to enable it (in the wifi settings menu) and even the Buzz ROM doesn't actually have this feature yet, and so this IS the first ROM for the Vega that actually has this function working AFAIK.

Also, ZZleeZZ doesn't need to give credit one way or the other, he didn't make the ROM, he's just pointing out an important feature.

nothing strange at all, Corvus gave buzz a few of the main ideas for his original kernel , then corvus took the work buzz did and improved it for his rom and then gave credit along with credit to paul etc etc , proper open source community development each feeding and benefiting the other

Buzz and I speak more that twice a week and share knowledge... is the way that the community grows.

Like i said in my rom post, i must thank a lot of people.. i have my vega for 4 weeks now and take some things from gtab, from kernels, from other roms to make my rom, but this doesnt means i dont spend my time doing it and making some changes to improve it. I dont wanna reinvent the wheel...

So, if some of the people whose work i take (like buzz, gojimi, weeds2000, etc.) feels that need a link or something, they are free to send me a pm and we can speak. (With some of them i did allready).

Eitherway if you wants to thanks the person that make wifi-suspend fix, buzz and gojimi are your target... i only put his work together (you can thank me by this :D)

Credit where credit is due and all that. Can I ask why is this such a useful feature? I have never really understood why people crave their vega's wifi to be on whilst it is in standby - maybe I'm missing something here? Surely it just uses more battery?

Assuming the CPU sleep issues are also fixed this is huge because it allows the normal working of Android's timer events, without which nothing can sync when the device sleeps this means that unlike an android phone none of calendar/mail/rss/alarms/news/market updates/twitter/facebook/battery meter will be up to date when you wake up

Without the CPU sleep issues fixed this isn't really useful (Have the Ventana power management fixes been backported?)

corvus rom link

Discussion about the features of the rom really should go in the rom thread. Like I said at the start I only created this thread to announce the big news. I shall now go there and report my problems! :D

Mail coming in while it's a sleep... Spotify playing music while it's asleep...

Sure, it's a tradeoff with batterylife but I'm very happy with at least having the option!

Well I`m giving it a try because of the sleep / standby problem .

The alarms work which is a good piont , now is the battery like the killer.

eg just like swiching the backlight off .

I`ve fully charged mine and set the alarm clock for 4 hour .

Switching backlight off and making it run as normal uses about 7% per hour , and about 10-15% per night on the old standbe which is basicly off .

I will have to do the same time without wifi.

Good work by the way !!!

2 hour = 96%

What is the wifi error? Have you tried resetting your router

Well I`m giving it a try because of the sleep / standby problem.

Is the sleep/standby problem you are talking about the same as the problem I am having. When my Vega go's into standyby (say I don't touch it for a few minutes) when I turn it on again the wifi doesn't work. It says it is connected but no internet apps work. To get it working I just need to turn the wifi off and on again, then works correctly but the problem is annoying.

Is this he same issue and is there a fix for it?

Cheers

Richard
