Guest SlicksterUK Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Firstly, I'd like to thank all contributors to this forum for an absolutely fantastic resource. A total newcomer to Android I've found enough info here to feel completely comfortable de-branding, flashing several different ROMs and generally getting my SF performing as I'd like. Several posts here prompted me to move to giffgaff and I've been using the unlimited data allowance to the full by trying LOADS of different apps from various sources - this leads me to my question: My SD card is now full of directories with names that are not familiar and I suspect that uninstalling apps does not always remove their data directories from the SD card. Is there a way to 'rebuild' the SD card with only essential directories? I suppose I could backup the card, wipe it and restart phone adding dirs from backup as apps fail but I'm hoping there might be an easier way. I guess it is possible for an SD card to be damaged and assume there is a mechanism to enable a clean replacement card to be used so I'd be grateful if any of you could enlighten me...

Guest SlicksterUK Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Thanks for a very speedy response Phoenix! I cannot find 'backup everything' on market but I've already bought Titanium Backup so I guess I could do similar with that? i.e. Backup all 'User Apps and System Data', copy TitaniumBackup folder to PC, format SD card & reinstall everything with Titanium? I've got seperate little apps to backup mail, SMS & APNs just for 'belt & braces' but I think I understand the process. I'll obviously backup the entire card before I do anything and will let you know how it goes - many thanks once again Phoenix.
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 yes you can do the same thing with titanium or another backup app
