Guest ouijaouija Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) I just got me this phone. I can't be bothered debranding the phone, but I want to delete stuff I don't want, but the uninstall option isn't available on ANYTHING in the application settings, only "clear data". I even youtubed how to do it but the uninstall button isn't seen anywhere E.g. there is a stupid guitar hero and who wants to be a millionaire icon on the homepage but in the application settings there is no option to uninstall, only to delete data etc etc Is there also a list that tells me what useless applications I can uninstall on here? Thanks Edited March 30, 2011 by ouijaouija
Guest i am not a hacker Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Well, what you have to do is: 1. Go on the market, download and install Universal Androot. If it isn't there, search for it on the internet (Universal Androot.apk) 2. Once you have done that, open it up and press root. 3. Then go on the market and get a file manager (Adao file manager will do or Root Explorer). 4. Next, open the file manager (I will explain with Adao), and press my phone. 5. It will prompt you so just press OK. 6. Next scroll down to system (it might be in sys) 7. In system go on app 8. In app, choose an apk to delete, like the guitar hero apk. 9. Then you done :D You can also do this. 1. Go on the market, download and install Universal Androot. If it isn't there, search for it on the internet (Universal Androot.apk) 2. Once you have done that, open it up and press root. 3. Go on the market again and download Titanium backup. 4. This app allows you the 'freeze' apps or remove them, which i think is 'freezing' them. 'Freezing' apps isn't making them stop working and lag
Guest ouijaouija Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 reps + 100, will try and report back
Guest hugobosslives Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 deleting the orange crap is debranding the phone. (personally i'd advising installing a new, crap free, rom but here is instructions for just taking off the crap: quickest way is to search google for universal androot (its not in the market these days). download it . install. then click 'root' and then 'root anyway' then install 'titanium backup' or 'root uninstaller' and scroll to your app and hit unistall. DONE!! NB: ignore the above post about 'freezing the apps'. freezing keeps the app on your phone but just doesn't show it in the app draw. why would you want to do this? just hit uninstall and get it completely off your phone :D

Guest ouijaouija Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 thanks, have downloaded androot, but titanium backup keeps "starting up" on the android marketplace page I don't know why
Guest ouijaouija Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) edit -- cool, titanium backup seems to be working.. but once I finish what I want do I have to unroot on androot or do I leave titanium and andrott on here? also, uninstalled apps still appear in the list but crossed out. Is this normal? Also, a lot of apps listed in the faq were not listed, and some apps like the orange game app or the orange app shop isn't listed but it still on my phone? thanks Edited March 30, 2011 by ouijaouija
Guest hugobosslives Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 1) you can delete uni.. androot if you don;t wana have root again. root will go when you next reboot. 2) keep titanium it is useful 3) yer refresh the list and the crossed out ones disappear.... 4) things like orange shop are there, they are just not called 'orange shop' they have slightly different starts to their names, look through and you will find them....
Guest stylezuk Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) Just wanted to add Root Uninstaller is far more user friendly and backs up system apps more effeciently, Titanium is still awesome software and also use but for a noob "meant in the nicest way" deleting/backing up the user interface is not daunting :D Edited March 30, 2011 by stylezuk

Thanks - ps all that crap I uninstalled is still isted all at the bottom, but there is no refresh button? theres a thread somewhere which tells you what you can delete. bacically anything with orange in it can defo go (apart from broswer) if its backed up it will stay crossed out a then bottem. just click it and hit restore. if you hit menu, options come up such as 'batch' and 'more' one sez something like 'refresh apps list' hit this and all deleted apps that havn't been backed up will leave the list for ever :D
