Oled or TFT how do you know.........

Need some help as im new to android, had enough of symbian, had enough of nokia i should say.

Picked up a osf over the weekend, has been rooted currently running 2.2 FLB Froyo r6 its supposedly gen 1 oled, tried to find out if its an oled screen but tried a couple of ways and it cant tell me. Previous owner told me handset repaired by orange recently, Mr pigfish tells me its a gen1.

It has superuser installed, cant find anything else.

Im Looking at taking this up alevel as it seems r6 is out of date now? But Iam aware i need to know if this is a oled or tft.

Look in the "how to install a custom ROM" thread.

But that thread has been updated since I looked

Pretty much ever ROM supports both screen types anyway now so it doesn't matter

Stick it flat on the desk in front of you....if the picture looks as bright as it does facing you, its an oled.

Thanks, layed flat on the desk Iam still able to see the display, although not as bright but has good detail.

Interestingly, on a similar topic. Go in a dark room and pump your phone up to full brightness.

Now open up the stock app drawer (or something with a similar black background.

Look at your phone at a near flat angle.

Can you see an image of the screen almost mirrored under the icons? Its pretty cool :D

what i done was flash the oled only firmware over to this used san fran i got, apparently if it's not oled and it's tft and you flash a oled only firmware your screen should go blueish

pretty sure it's oled i've compared it to 2 white tft's and the colours are that little more vibrant
