multiple sms sending

hi new to this and wonder if anyone be kind enough to help me.managed to change from 2.1 to 2.2 system but one thing not right,when i go to send a text message ,after i type it ,there used to be a dropdown menu for the contacts but now you have to put 2 first letters in and cant sent a text to say 4 people at once,bit of a nuisance,any yous kind people got remedy,thanks
