Help, Desire Weirdness!

Hi All

Right got some really weird stuff going on with my phone.

<Skip this background bit if you are lazy>I've had a Desire for some time now, rooted it with unevoked, have had several different MoDaCo ROMs on it (all with sense and A2SD+), not had much problem with it. Last week it was lost outside, so I got a replacement from Orange insurance. I rooted with unrevoked as before, and put in a new 16GB SD I'd bought for the old one but not got around to putting in. The original phone was then returned, so I got orange to unblock it and I'd return the replacement, I thought this would be a good time to flash a new ROM here.

Both phones refused to flash due to file/folder not being found on the SD (unless I used a REALLY short name for the ROM image and left it on the SD root), I was blaming the SD, and thought I may have cocked-up setting it up for A2SD+ (I did it using gparted to give myself more space). I tried using ROM Manager to format it, it did nothing although looked like it had worked. I tried to format the SD from recovery, looked like it worked, but all the files were still there, so it obviously did nothing. I was just about to throw the SD in the bin when I discovered a different card was doing the same. </lazy bit>

So three different SD cards in two different phones (each with a different ROM) and:

Phone will not format them (although it looks like it has)

Can't flash new ROM unless it has a REALLY short name for it and left it on the SD root

and

New installs/titanium restores will often cause the phone to reboot rather than install.

Some installed apps will vanish and need re-installing.

I just can't understand why a new phone, and a previously stable phone would suddenly start playing up in the same way without having anything I can think of in common.

The replacement phone is going back tomorrow, so I'm not bothered about that (although it was handy to prove it wasn't just my main phone playing up on it's own), but I really need my main phone in a usable state.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Or even what is going on so I can look deeper myself?

Forgot to mention, they keep forgetting which apps have root permissions too.

Hi,

The only crossover I can think of between the two phones is:

Superuser (from ChainsDD, latest version on the market)

BusyBox 1.16.0 (via Titanium Backup)

ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.07

Is anybody else having these problems?

Does anybody have any idea how to fix them?

Just noticed I can't remove widgets/short-cuts either. Getting very annoyed with it now!
