Guest OSF_noob Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Bought an Orange San Fran earlier this week, rooted and loaded a 2.2 ROM. All happy until I started getting regular screen freeze, so restored to stock Orange ROM. Again, all was well until got different screen freeze issues - so the phone went back to the shop where they were happy to swap for a fresh handset. On the first phone, the stock SMS client was a bit like the HTC SMS client - where my picture and the recipients picture were shown by the side of each message sent and received - making it nice and easy to read. The new phone has a slightly different version - it shows the recipients name and picture at the top, and then just lines of alternating text for each message sent. Not pretty, and not particularly easy to read. So: 1) Is what I've got now the stock Android SMS app? It's a bit crappy if it is, and I presume that's why people use Handcent, Chomp etc? 2) Is it possible that the reason I had a different client on the first one because I'd gone to 2.2 and back again - could it be the remnants of Froyo goodness might have still been on it? 3) Can I update the SMS client (is it mms.apk?) and is there perhaps a version more like the HTC client that someone can point me to to use on my San Fran? Thanks all, J
