Guest Free Radical Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Hi guys. I am an Android newbie. Just had my Blade imported from UK to my place a couple of days back. I have been a Symbian user to the last 8 years and only just getting used to Android awesomesauce. Using Swedish Spring RLS3 (also tried FLB r10b) with hw ui and ahb oc thanks to the valuable work done by all the great forum members here at Modaco. I need to know whether its possible to use the proximity sensor on the blade for locking and unlocking. I find it annoying to use the flimsy power switch repeatedly. On Symbian it can easily be done by an app called PockerLock and another called PocketSensor. The purpose of this is to use the phone with a magnetic holster / case (eg. like in the new fangled iPad2) If there is an app on the Android market which can do this, please do suggest. I haven't had much success. Would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks.
Guest Tunee Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 I have tried this app: https://market.android.com/details?id=net.m...e=search_result It's for locking/unlocking phone, but not realy worked for me. You can give it a try :D

Only for 2.2 or above though, and if you want it for unlocking the device, it may drain your battery quite fast (not sure how they do it, but I think the device must be awake if you want to use the proximity sensor.)
Guest Pelemane Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 You can do that with this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.i...e4ucz.screenoff It may cause battery drain, if you want to unlock your phone with that app.

In fact, its for my daughters SF, which was replaced by Orange recently - but the power button is a bit iffy sometimes, so going to get her to try this before sending it back again. And its good to know in case the SF's power button does give up before the rest of the phone. Need to see how it affects battery life - there are options to have the sensor turn off after various 'lengths' of time.
