Don't give up cos like you I didn't know what I was doing wrong....also make sure u have downloaded all drivers and roms and follow the guide to a T...hope that helps a little. Heres the guide I used usb drivers for xp guide index.pdf Edited April 1, 2011 by Paris2011
Guest newbe5 Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 (edited) Remember, USBDview is your friend, either that or a Ubuntu LiveCD is VERY easy to do it from. BUT, you'll find not many people are willing to help if you just post "This is too hard, bye" instead of: 1) Searching. 2) Posting a constructed question. Zeb Edited April 1, 2011 by newbe5
Guest ThisisSparta Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 I too am having problems with the drivers, have tried new roms on winmo devices an also on my san francisco, but i am also losing the will t live. Drivers loaded when vega first connected n pc shows vega when in usb storage mode, but adb is not showing up in device manager, have scanned for hardware changes but still no luck
Guest ezynow Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Hi, I have win 7 / uac turned off 1) power button combo to get into recovery state ( instructions as per the advent site) . Check device manager for apx device (yellow! ) manually install the drivers by right click -> point to the drivers from advent usb. (Combo thing maybe a bit fiddly, u should have a black screen, but biggest clue is the apx device appesring in device manager) 2) then put the device in usb debugging mode (application settings menu) . Reconnect to pc - adb device should appear in device manager -> then manually install pauls adb driver. Found in his zip download. (Might want to try a different usb port here, if the adb fails to show at first) 3) flash away to hearts content Once happy- install clockmod (guide in sticky) and backup) Anyhow the above worked for me! Should be up & running in 10 mins.

You need to install in manually via the add new hardware and I have the disk. have it install , but say it`s not working . Find the right mass storage device , and update it. What happen to the step up step install doc which was psoted last week for installing windows 7 ?.
Guest trevor432990 Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 For all those still having difficulties .... despair no longer the answer is to be found within this mine of information which Percy25 put together months ago. I would particularly draw novices attention to Post 19 which has links to some VIDEOs of installing the ROMs which are I think very useful (if slightly out-of-date). :D
Guest ThisisSparta Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 when i go into advent recovery mode the only driver for it shows up as nvidia USB boot-recovery driver for mobiles
Guest ThisisSparta Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 trevor, already gone through the files n still having problems. I cant get device manager to change the driver, every time it just says the best driver installed and comes out

Guest godinandroid Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Quick, someone call a waaaaaaambulance. :D
Guest ian webster Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 I would in all humility consider myself a very technical person but I also had issues with the USB drivers etc so you shouldn't be too hard with the op. IMHO the problems vary between individual Vegas (having owned more than one) and also if the drivers don't install correctly the first time (due to stupidity on my part) its a devil of a job to get the correct ones in, at least on win7 I had the most success sticking with the stock 1.09 rom and adding the gapps/market with the update zip file mentioned in another thread here, that's been pretty painless and with zeam as the launcher I've got the Vega just how I want it.

Guest louca001 Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 It took me well over 7 hours to get mine working. I would suggest using XP only to install custom ROMS to the Advent Vega. I've not found another OS that will do it. Try downloading an XP Virtual Machine from Microsoft here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

I'm an IT professional with 20 years admin/development/management behind me and I still had to 'Phone a friend' to get my vega working with R8 and the ADB drivers. Stick with it and read the forums and ask for help. The guys on here will help with everything and you will soon come to enjoy everything your Vega has to offer. Edited April 1, 2011 by .Benny.

Try downloading an XP Virtual Machine from Microsoft here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx I also had the USB driver issues for weeks (Win7 Pro 64 bit) but as I had access to Linux and Win 7 Home 32bit I was okay. Its only recently when I used the VegaTools I was able to resolve it. A word about Virtual PC though, I was under the impression this wouldn't work as Virtual PC doesn't virtualise usb hardware correctly?? I though VMPlayer was needed for this. Could be wrong though, often am. :D

Win vista home premium 32bit Congrats...i personally prefer Pauls rom after trying out about 4 others. I felt Pauls had all the basics and was the most stable for functionability..but thats just me...its really down to what u want ur machine to do, how it looks etc
Guest warriorscot Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 It isn't the easiest thing in the world, but its not that hard it just takes a little perseverence and if you are having issues reading up on it as we have pages and pages of help files. Also one of the easiest things to do is just use linux on a live CD or virtual machine to install clockwork mod then you never have to install another driver. It's either that or use adb wireless. There are options that avoid windows drivers so no excuse in giving up.
Guest PurpleRob Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 If you are still having problems get in touch with a member called Simonta. He offered a free service a while back to remotely assist, he may still offer to help. http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...th-usb-drivers/ Hope it pans out for you Rob
Guest fractured Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 I think firstly an apology for me throwing my teddy out at the start of this post. Having read your replies I did get the inspiration to try and try again over the weekend, even to the point of loosing everything on my vega. But I did read more posts about installing and came accross SIMONTA, you sir are the one who has pulled me back from despair. After following your posting I believe of the 9 March re drivers I have GOT THE DAMN THING WORKING! and yes I did want to shout that out. I cannot explain the feeling when the vega started up after installing absolutely great thank you SIMONTA, infact thank you all that posted and gave me the encouragement to go on and just do it. I am now going off to play as you say!
