Guest CRIS.F.7 Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 I have been meaning to install a 2.2 ROM for ages and simply never was willing to take it on, finally got round to it and BOOM i have a big problem. I used the youtube guide on these forums, and it was all going fine. got the green android logo to come up after ROM install, moved onto the word ANDROID that has an animated shine, and has been reloading that android word with the shine over and over again for like 12 minutes! I read that it could take upto 6 mins but seriously what's going one!? Anyone recognise this problem and have a solution?
Guest Michealtbh Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 (edited) Sounds like something went wrong with the flash. Did you do a full wipe beforehand? Power down by pulling the battery then boot into recovery by holding volume down while switching your phone on, until recovery loads. Do a full wipe and format data, system and sd ext under mounts and storage, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache under advanced. Then flash your rom, then reboot *Edit, remember first boot can take up to 15 minutes, so be patient Edited April 1, 2011 by Michealtbh
Guest CRIS.F.7 Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Does that mean i will loose all my data? like contacts and settings, i did a titanium backup before hand will it wipe that or will that come into use later? Thanks for any help btw.
Guest Michealtbh Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Your backup is on your SD card, so you wont lose that. Make sure you choose "Format SD-ext" and NOT "Format SD". When restoring using Titanium make sure you only restore your apps, as restoring user settings from a different rom can cause problems

Its brought up clockwork v3.0.1.4, and the only option that resembles that is "wipe data / factory reset" which then brings up a whole loads of lines that say no no no. kinda wishing i'd stuck to stock 2.1 now! :D
Guest Lew247 Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Did you check the rom you downloaded was 100% correctly downloaded? ALWAYS check the MD5 checksum figures - if they don't match then it wil not work Hopefully you backed up your original rom before you flashed the new one? Simply restore the backup then start again
Guest Michealtbh Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Under Mounts and Storage you should have options to Format /cache, Format /system, Format /data and Format /sd-ext. Its right there, Im looking at it now. The "No No No" page is just a confirmation page, theres a yes in there somewhere, choose yes.

Oh piss, what do i do now? i have wiped all the system, data ect. Do i somehow download a new rom onto the sd card and if so how if i can't get it to boot!? :D
Guest Michealtbh Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Theres an option to mount USB Storage under Mounts and Storage. Download your rom, mount usb and put the rom on your sd card. Flash it, when its finished reboot, everything should work fine now that youve wiped

Guest Michealtbh Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 In future always perform a backup before flashing a new rom, that way if something goes wrong you can restore your phone to exactly how it was before. Do this in "Backup and Restore" in cwm

Btw how would you recommend backing up in general? Because there seems to be so many options/ ways1? Nandroid/ Titanium/ This clockwork one/ Googles cloud?
Guest Michealtbh Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Nandroid = cwm backup, this backs up your rom exactly you have it at the time. Titanium is for backing up apps for transferring between roms
