Guest coronet Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Was going to buy a Slacker dock, but just wanted to clear some confusion: according to reviews, the USB works, but the line-out does not. Does the headphone jack still work for sound, or is this dock useless as an alternative to the Dell car dock?
Guest TheCanucklehead Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 I just plugged in my headphones into the Slacker G2, played music - sound came from the Streak, not headphones.
Guest Strakerr3 Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 I just plugged in my headphones into the Slacker G2, played music - sound came from the Streak, not headphones. I believe this is dependent on the type of stereo cable used? i have a dock, Not the one mentioned but i've tested 6 different cables, on 2 of them the sound works through my dock. on the other 4 the sound comes through my streak. the 2 that work seem to have more 'rings' and slightly different shaped plugs. Not entirely sure why though.. anyone know if that has any baring on it?
Guest Amdathlonuk Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 If the connection has more rings it sounds like a 'dopod' connection, this has 4 'rings' as oposed to the normal 3 used for stereo headphones. This has an extra connection and is normally used for headphones with an inline volume/track shifter.....etc.

I tested with the in-ear phones that come with the Streak - the jack has three rings - and I'm still only getting sound from the Streak speakers :D

You are using Mono and Stereo headphone cables. If someone is getting sound from Dopod cable then you need that extra 'ring'
Guest !SMAN! Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 By default the headphone jacks are not connected. however if you follow this thread on XDA, it shows what wires you need to connect to get it working like a real dock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...p;postcount=159

Thank you for the link! Alright, for sure going to nab one of these docks now. Now if only I had my soldering iron...
Guest Gopu Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Awesome! Thank you for the link! Alright, for sure going to nab one of these docks now. Now if only I had my soldering iron... I tried soldering and screwed things up. Its needs precision work. The attachements are so small. the pictures in xda are magnified.

Eek! I'm not that good at soldering; I've only built one thing. Does anyone do the soldering work and then resell them somewhere?
