Swedish Spring RLS4 Respin - Gen 1 and 2 - Lite or Phat

Taking kallt_kaffe's latest iteration (NOTE: no real reason to update from RLS3, but ideal to go to Swedish Spring from A.N. Other ROM) and adding/subtracting numerous features.

First variant

This is a light version, intended for simplicity and ease of use.

• Removed most of the non-phone type apps, these can be selectively added by the user later if desired
  
• Removed VM Cache app and nofrills CPU - the ROM now defaults to ondemand governor AND is set to run the stock 600MHz max CPU frequency, but the lower 122.8MHz idle for reduced idle battery consumption
  
• HW accel default off - LauncherPro is noticeably smoother with this OFF - can be turned on in kk's "extra settings" app
  
• Stagefright ON (not http)
  
• Slightly revised GPS and WLAN configs
  
• Added updated notification and ringtone sounds
  
• Boot animation changed
  
• Autobrightness behaviour enhanced
  
• Battery Circle mod included
  
• Gingerbread Wallpaper added to /system/sd/ for easy adoption
  
• Astro replaces Filer
  
• Radios removed (neither are great experiences) If you want a reasonable Radio use Andorko's 0.5 version rather than the RDS 0.6 version - seems OK on battery (famous last words)
  
• AOSP apps replace the ZTE efforts
  
• LauncherPro replaces Launcher2

Yes - you will probably have the ZTE dialler and the contacts will be FUBAR without a wipe.

Thanks for quick reply ive flashed rls3 aosp contacts and everything is ok but like most roms better wipe get clean install then can i use frankish themes thankyou for your time

WLAN - DNS server set to a true global one (Google) instead of a useless Taiwanese one. This generally only has an effect when using Hotspots

GPS - AGPS enabled

(Strangely, Wiper.apk is missing from /app in SS3 and SS4)

I don't really get this. Spare parts option changes every transition effect while the LP settings only go as far as modifying the app drawer opening/closing speed and the home screens preview speed.

The full phat version is looking like a winner, but before flashing I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. Firstly, I prefer the stock battery icon to the circle one, so is this something a newb like myself can restore without too much difficulty? Secondly, don't know if you've seen it, but CM7 has an animation when you hit the lock button that looks like an old television screen cutting out. I like this and would like to use it with SS if possible. Again, is this something that'd be difficult to implement? Cheers, and thanks for sharing your respins.

No intentions to reinstate the stock battery icon at the moment. The clever CM7 animation is probably a bridge too far! One day, one day.

Just installed the lite version on my 1st Generation Orange SF - works well so far - I really like the circle Battery Status with the percentage number in the middle

Only had it running a few hours so can't say if battery is better then the last version of Jelly Fish.

But well done to the creator . :D

Is it a good idea to totally wipe my battery stats since this is a new ROM?

I have moved from release 2 direct to 4 and everything is just great except for one issue, that being my camcorder application will not work! It loads for a few seconds and then freezes up. With release 2 everything was fine, no issue at all. I am using the phat version of version 4. I performed a complete wipe and factory reset. I am using clockwork 3.0.0.14 (the latest released version) my phone is an original OLED Orange San Francisco. Please can you see if you can resolve this small problem in the next release as I am sure others must have experienced this problem too. I am not sure if I should post this here or in the 'parent' post for Kalt-Kafe to see. So I will post it in both places, I hope that is fine to do?

Just tried it on both TFT and OLED phones without issue (TFT with Basic apps and OLED with full apps). Have you a) added any apps yourself? or b ) changed ANY settings in nofrills CPU. VMHeap tool or kk's "extra settings"?

Hi Lance,

I have added no additional apps and have not changed any speed settings or anything in KK's additional settings app. I remember reading on Fibblesan's ROM page that going between versions caused some people to have the same issue... I realise this is a different ROM but I find it strange that this stopped working between releases (2 - 4). Perhaps there is a different component in some of the original Orange San Francisco phones?

Another strange thing is that the camera works okay for me and if anything appears better than before. Did anything change in the code for the video camera that might cause this? I mustn't be the only person with this issue. If I restore back to version 2 the video camera works as before so I don't think this is a problem with my hardware.

Other than this the ROM and your additional add ons are fantastic. In my opinion this is currently the best ROM available for the blade.

edit: I just tried to capture a screenshot for you and one other small point I just noticed is that the screenshot tool force closes whenever I try to start it. This is the first time I have launched this application and so I did not see it before.

If 600 is the max then that rom probably has overclocking disabled. I don't know why it keeps changing your governor though, maybe it's a NoFrills bug or it has something to do with the ROM's kernel built in frequency and governor options. You can try messing around with SetCPU and see if that helps.

Great work! Really looking forward to flash this but had a few questions:

Could someone confirm if I am to add on the 'Swedish_Spring_RLS4_aosp_contacts.zip' or the 'Swedish_Spring_RLS3_aosp_contacts.zip' as RLS3 was added by previous poster, but not sure if it was a typo or if they meant it.

Also, am I ok to add on the Swedish_Spring_RLS4_deskclock.zip after, or will this cause a problem?

Also, I know Google maps etc are listed in the full phat vesion, but are the full google apps added in the lite Rom?

This rom it's great, but lack off the power bar can be perfect.

Does any one can put that function on notifications bar?

I think i found a minor BUG.

I can't put the font more smaller, on the spares parts I put the font to smallest but the config doesn't work.

But congractulations I test all the roms posted on this forum and this it's very good, but please put the options off power bar on this rom.
