Changing Carrier Text

I've just installed CM7, and was wondering what's the best way of changing the carrier text (currently 'Telefonica O2 UK Limited') to something a little more succinct?

I've tried the eri.xml method mentioned in xda, but that didn't seem to work at all, unless I've got something wrong. I've still got the eri.xml in \data.

I had that problem on gen1, on the cyanogenmod issue tracker it's flagged as "who cares"
