Guest KenBW2 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Is it possible to remove a load of APKs from the CM7 zip to end up with a stock Gingerbread? If so could someone provide me with/point me in the direction of a list of what to remove? Cheers
Guest Frankish Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Starting with anything that starts with CMxxx.apk is good. Adding in google apps and removing adwlauncher and replacing with stock launcher is a start. I tried this already. Issues i had, Lockscreen is rotary, would need to edit the android.policy.jar i think for stock lockscreen. CyanogenMod Settings stays in menu, settings list and force closes if pressed...need to find what to edit to hide it. (Something in settings.apk?) I think these were my only major problem with the rom when i attempted this. :D
Guest Frankish Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Also power widget is on by default also.
Guest fonix232 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Easiest thing to do is to download the cyanogen source, but build with lunch, and not to use the cyanogen_blade option, but create a stock one what does not include cyanogenmod changes. OR, download the device tree, and add it to an AOSP source tree, and build from that.

Guest KenBW2 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 (edited) I'm only set up to build kernels not yet set up to build a rom...so that's not even English to me :D Likewise. If someone could do this and release it as a rom that'd be golden. Second best solution is that described by Frankish in Post#2 Edited April 3, 2011 by KenBW2
Guest Bonbergol Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Iam not running CM7 at the moment but are the additional regulation and tweaking option so bad? I thought that Cm7 will be the perfect rom Will try to test it myself when it will be really stable

Guest hecatae Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Part of my reason for wanting this is the curiosity of knowing what is Gingerbread and what is CM when cm7 is declared stable and no longer an rc I'll look at doing this, until then I'll advise waiting.
Guest KACE_231 Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 A completely stock Gingerbread OS would be helpful, some aspects of Cyanogen are annoying, that is the Launcher in particular, and I think stripping this out may infact improve performance of the laggy menus

Guest Frankish Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Easiest thing to do is to download the cyanogen source, but build with lunch, and not to use the cyanogen_blade option, but create a stock one what does not include cyanogenmod changes. OR, download the device tree, and add it to an AOSP source tree, and build from that. Can you explain further the first method. The "and not to use the cyanogen_blade option, but create a stock one what does not include cyanogenmod changes." part confuses me. I am new but i'm set up to build and would like to stumble through!

Guest Frankish Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Yeah i got that bit but it seemed like he was saying there was a step after that :D My bad.

Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Nightly 35 seems quite a lot faster than other releases to me: Cpu @ 691mhx was my only "performance" edit I also use the stock 2.3 launcher ( its somewhere on this forum :D ) And I turnoff the "overscroll effect". This speeds up menus a bit, but I still don't think its quite froyo.
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Oh and I came across something in the market which "increases the sd card cache size" its a pay app, do Im not going to get it :D, and there are mixed user reviews Anyhow, anyone know what this would go about changing, how could we replicate it? Come people claims it speeds up other devices quite a bit, but I cant be sure for our blades.
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 D'oh, my above inquisition was posted yesterday..
Guest Frankish Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 It won't build with lunch but will with brunch. I'm clueless i'm giving up :D
Guest Frankish Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Been trying again. Successfully built the latest nightly from source. I still want to build with no CM changes. So it's clean. Help? :D
