Guest add.thebad Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) update Due to @mad murdock and @bumble bees amazing work we now have a fully working cyanogen mod 7 (gingerbread) and had now got official nightly status! Next RC then full stable cyanogen support!! Great news! Mad Murdock had diceded to make nightly builds for cyanogen mod 7. This will mean we will have a semiofficial cyanogen and if we get enough support possible official cyanogen. The work that murdock has done to modify gingerbread to make it more tablet freindly is amazing and mimics homeycomb which makes the device much easier to use. Now it is finished his code has been merged to the cyanogen source. Nightlys are now being built for the vega!! check it out at his xda thread clicky 9/4/11 nightly 01 out 10/4/11 nightly 02 10/4/11 nightly 03 (rapid!!) 13/4/11 nightly 04 massive speed improvements so is nice and smooth now 21/4/11 nightly 05 camera working 23/4/11 nightly 06 24/4/11 nightly 07 overclock works 25/4/11 nightly 08 Bluetooth fixed and much smoother! 25/4/11 now official nightlys 27/6/11 RC 1 released what is a nigltly? a nightly is a rom that is still in development so will still have some bugs. In this case it is nightlys for cyanogen mod 7 see here and each build will be made from the latest source. if you like it you should vote to show your support for nightly builds of cyaongen which would be great!! Guest premieral Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 i love his work until now Why until now?
Guest quazar666 Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 I guess that he means to say "so far". Anyway, it's a great build. If the keyboard would be working I would use cm7 by default! Don't forget to clear cache before flashing the rom!

I am sure this will be fixed. I am using the statusbar on the bottom of the screen and do not have any problems. Edited April 4, 2011 by Scanno
Guest ViPaSoft Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 I'm definitely interested in this, but am too green to try it just yet. I am just getting to grips with Pauls r8 ROM and don't wish, [at the moment], to be re-flashing ROMS frequently. Perhaps in a few weeks when a lot of the bugs are ironed out. I used CM on my mobile and was very happy with it, but now I have my tablet, my phone is just that, a phone/texter... .....Avid MadMurdock watcher, with interest.....

Guest trevor432990 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Any chance of Mad Murdock teaming up with Paul to produce a new Modaco ROM rather than having a separate product? Would much rather have a single source for new versions as it should lead to more stability and better support overall. :D

Plus modoco and cyanogen are totally different so i doubt this would happen

It's the only feature that seems to be missing! it contains bumble-bees (apach14 of buzz kernel here) latest cm kernel, which switches to usbhost when pressing back while power on. details about switching: see the buzz kernel thread.

Just tested it myself and got my FAT32 stick working and mounted. Do not know about 3G sticks. I did not test one yet Edited April 5, 2011 by Scanno
Guest wipeout140 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 The ROM works really well, had few problems with the market but mostly sorted now, possibly keep with it and see how it does. Also voted in that thread earlier today - good to see another option for the vega

Guest Lennyuk Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Just got around to trying this rom, and aside from two bugs I will mention in minute, its AMAZING!!!!!! as far as the bugs go, the two I have noticed so far are: - No downloads listed in "my downloads" section in the market - Swiftkey Tablet beta is about twice the size it should be, looks ugly and can't really be used :D
Guest newbe5 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 ACCELEROMETER!!! *Dances* *Goes to continue playing Speedx using the Vega Accelerometer to control* Was beginning to think the responsiveness was a hardware issue, I was wrong! newbe5
Guest warriorscot Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 This is good news, once it has a few more bug fix iterations and I have more time to nurse a potentially buggy rom I will definately give it a try, certainly nice to know that we will at least have 2.3 soon since 3.0 seems to be having some more delays.
Guest Paris2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 hi...sorry if this is a stupid question...downloaded this and everything is great but how do i get android market on it and get it working???
Guest .stu Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 hi...sorry if this is a stupid question...downloaded this and everything is great but how do i get android market on it and get it working??? You need to google "gapps cm7 download", download the latest version you can find and then install it using clockworkmod.
Guest .stu Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Just got around to trying this rom, and aside from two bugs I will mention in minute, its AMAZING!!!!!! I have to echo your sentiments there!! I am very impressed. With this ROM installed I'm glad I went for the Vega again rather than pay almost double for a HC tablet.
