Guest jonmac73 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Hi all, managed to source a Blackberry mains charger - wondering if safe to use on OSF. Someone told me they overvolt and can damage other phones ............ hmmmm not sure. Specs below. Thanks in advance Blackberry: MODEL: PSM04R-050CHW1(M) INPUT: 100-240V ~ 150mA 50-60Hz 10-20VA OUTPUT: 5V _ 700mA OSF UK: MODEL:STC-A22050I700USBA-B INPUT: 100-240V ~ 50-60Hz 200mA OUTPUT: 5.0V _ 700mA
Guest Roph Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Going from your quoted specs, what's coming out the end of the mini USB connector on both is 700mA at 5 volts, so it sounds fine :D Edited April 5, 2011 by Roph
Guest ronc2000 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Anything coming out of USB, and going to the USB cable, or A charger with a micro USB end Will do, no problem. Because these are all standard.
Guest gambieter Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I am using all kinds of different micro-USB chargers with my OSF, including a charger from my Blackberry 9780. No problem, works fine.

Not true B) Someone here fried their device when his Micro USB car charger sent about 12v to his phone :D No idea what that charger was originally for "Always check the label" Edited April 5, 2011 by Azurren

On the other hand, micro USB is only a connector. Any device manufacturer can use it as a connector for connecting 2 devices, other than as a Micro USB standard device. In that sense you are quite right.

Guest Roph Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Yes, you should always check first. It reminds me of some old chargers I saw once that were a plug on one end and a 3.5mm jack on the other. You don't wanna go sticking that thing into your walkman! Edited April 6, 2011 by Roph
