I have Froyo G2 right now but very tempted to get Swedish Spring.

My question is, how do i back up everything and put it back onto the new ROM? This includes messages, contact numbers, app settings (e.g. set CPU, angry birds) apps themselves, phone settings such as brightness, wifi settings, message tones, pictures etc etc.

Is there a step by step guide?

Thanks

A "nandroid" backup (Done from clockwork or the "rom manager" app) can take a snapshot of your phone exactly frozen in time :D

So you can restore the phone, restart it and it will be exactly how it was at the time the backup was created, apps, settings, wallpaper, messages. missed calls etc.

But you can't extract things (easily) so nandroid backups are only used for the above

There are backup apps available on the market (Titanium backup) which can backup apps, some apps can backup messages etc. But they all have issues and sometimes its just better to spend half an hour setting up your phone again after a clean flash (I've done this so many times I can restore almost everything in under 5mins B))

fair enough, just seems quite annoying to get a new ROM and lose everything you have done to make it personalized.

follow pheonix's instructions:

either

google it

or

type in google page : backup everything android app

then you'll find it.

the app works well, and it's free.
