Guest chizhuk Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Hi Guys, In a moment of stupidity I downloaded 'System App Remover' to get rid of Stocks. This went OK and then somehow I pressed the right options to delete Market/vending. I've tried installing various market/vending apks but they all seem to run OK to then fall down and FC when hitting 'My Apps'. I've done a hard reset thinking this would restore the stock market app to that would be too easy. Phone is rooted and S-OFF'd and was running probably as good as it has ever been before I began acting like a muppet. Is there any way of re-installing market from sd-card or the 'net From a little bit of reading it appears that I can push a system app onto the phone using the sdk and adb but before I take the plunge I thought I'd just ask if this was the only/best/safest way to get the phone working again. Thanks in advance for any advice. Edited April 6, 2011 by chizhuk
Guest bpivk Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I have the old market on my rom (CM 6.1.1) and wanted to install the new one but it didn't work. What I did was: - Extract the file from the original rom - Push it to my phone via ADB (or you can just move it to system with root explorer or similar app if you have S-OFF and don't like to use ADB) - Wipe the market cache (you have an option to do so at the screen where you remove the apps from the phone) My phone is charging right now so the last option is a little vague but you probably know what I'm talking about. The market works nicely now (too bad it's still the old version).
Guest chizhuk Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the quick response. Having wiped the phone in the hard reset I appear to no way of installing a file manager. Done the following so far: Installed the sdk(v10) found adb in \platform-tools\ adb devices adb remount adb push Vending.apk /system/app/ adb push Market.apk /system/app Rebooted phone Market now in menu and runs and allows me to stick in user and pw. (v2.3.2) My Apps shows nothing - this was expected as I'd already cleared cache and data on previous attempts. Now getting network errors /Update Re-Rebooted phone once or twice got rid of network error and have now reinstalled Titanium Backup from market. Restored various apps that I'd previously backed up. Imported old contacts list - hard reset wiped the contacts. Lesson Learned. Edited April 6, 2011 by chizhuk
