Guest Bobby Elliott Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I got my Advent Vega today and ran into every problem imaginable. Yes, my PC is running Windows 7 64-bit, which seems to be a recipe for disaster when it comes to upgrading this device. Right now I seem to have a bastardised version of the original ROM. After everything imaginable went wrong, I tried, in desperation to do a software update using the built-in facility to force it to upgrade to Paul's ROM. And it didn't work, surprise surprise. My device boots OK and everything except wi-fi seems to work. But the "upgrade" seems to have damaged the built in wi-fi software. So, I thought, I will just install the 1.09 ROM from http://www.myadventvega.co.uk/. But this ROM is an exe file that, presumably, you run from Windows - so it doesn't work ("Device not found"). Is there an image of any version of the ROM that I can manually copy onto my SD card and then do an update using the software update function inside settings? That would at least get a working version back. 1.09 image would be ideal but any version at this stage would be better than what I have. BTW I tried for an hour to get my device into recovery mode only to discover that you get absolutely no sign that you are in recovery mode, except a (slightly) backlit blank screen. Yay! Advent! Way to go!

Way to go! Nothing to do with Advent, it's made by Shuttle, and it's a great piece of design that if you get into Android more deeply, you'll come to love. It's part of what makes the Vega unbrickable and has saved many a sorry a*s after various boobs. BTW, you should not see ANYTHING when you are in recovery. If you see the backlight at all, you've missed it and need to start again. Anyway, back to your problem. Try this guide. Whatever you have read, forget trying to update drivers, it will usually fail. Given that you've done some stuff already, I recommend running USBDeview to remove all traces of the current drivers before following the guide. Everything else you need is here on the forum. No need for new topics. Cheers and good luck. http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...-driver-guides/
