Hi Guys,

I bought the OSF / ZTE Blade on Sunday and I have a few questions before I root and upgrade to froyo on this device.

I have used "ask mr pig" which tells me I am using a Gen1 version (sold with andriod 2.1) which sounds good to me and it sounds like I have Generation 1 and don't need to worry as much about bricking it (in both senses of the word).

The thing that is confusing me now is I have come across in these forums saying that the there are two different baseband versions on the OSF / Blade phone which isn't a problem in itself, but my baseband version doesn't match up with either - so as you can imagine I am a little confused.....

My baseband version is P729BB01 (unless this is using hexidecimal as opposed to binary but its been so long since I worked in these forms that I dont know which one it is).

Second problem: I found a website that said you could tell if the phone was OLED or TFT by the build number (all sounds good so far)....check my build number as it is newer that these found on the OSF website (not the official orange one).

My build number is OUK_P729BV1.0.0B10

So could someone help me work out if I am using OLED or TFT and what my baseband actually means lol.......thanks in advance for any help!

You have a TFT model with "B10" firmware. You can install all custom Roms made for Gen1 phones compatible with TFT. I recommend cyanogenmod7 (2.3 Gingerbread)

Isn't this mod slower than the 2.2 jellyfish rs9 though and less stable?

I want to de-orange my phone, remove bloatware and be able to get facebook sync for contacts and add flash 10.1 on a stable version......would you still recommend cyanogenmod7?

Don't get a blade for flash won't work

(flash sucks anyway)

Flahs does not work on the blade at all, a simple search of the forums throws that up.

fair enough.....only wanted it for the iplayer app but suppose i can use it through browser anyway.....cheers for the list.

Now just gotta read through a few guides on how to backup, debrand, flash and install a rom now.

Only unlocked the phone so far.

cheers for the help so far guys!

True, Cyanogenmod has a few bugs left to fix, but most people find it very stable nonetheless. If you want a stable 2.2 ROM, then I would suggest Swedish Spring over Japanese Jellyfish - the same maker but Swedish Spring is newer and better.
