Guest spraoi Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 I got instructions from Mugen on initialising battery and general battery care including that I should never let it go flat. Do these really apply to li-ion batteries?
Guest Splux Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I got instructions from Mugen on initialising battery and general battery care including that I should never let it go flat. Do these really apply to li-ion batteries? I have killed (not littarelly, but you understand...) my battery several times and so far I have not noticed any difference at all, so then we got two options: 1. I am lucky 2. Probably it does not matter if you kill the battery or forgets to charge it once in a while :D After checking wikipedia, I cannot find anything that says discharging your battery completely will make it worst. Even though wikipedia did say that it will lose approximately 20% of its power per year, so changing battery once per year maybe is something everyone should do? B)
Guest jayziac Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I've read from different sources that discharging a li-ion completely is bad for it, it can be recharged whenever unlike older ni-cad that have memory problems if recharged only half way. But the other extreme is to not leave it in the charger all the time, extra heat shortens battery life too when it's left in the charger all the time.
