thanks, any need to reboot after doing this before installing the new rom or can I just go ahead after wiping?

you shouldn't need to reboot between the wiping steps.

at least, i never have and things seem to work ok.

for best chance of having no problems: wipe everything (i.e cache/data and davlik cache and factory reset) also wiping battery stats will mean your new rom won't take as long to 'learn' your battery to give accurate readings. also to for best results: install new rom on a full charge

thanks but do I then need to reboot into clockwork before applying the rom or can I just go ahead after wiping?

no, don't reboot (i've never done this so i dunno what you'd get, but after wiping everthing, you'd have a pretty empty phone)

just wipe, then hit 'install zip from sdcard' then choose the rom (download one from here and then, after its installed, hit reboot. (NB first reboot will take ages)
