Accuracy of recognition on the edges of touchscreen

Many liquids (E and non-E) have a problem recognizers coordinates on the edges of the touchscreen. Touching is shifted closer to the edge of the screen than it actually is. It can be seen on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmEMAcWhveI.

Can this be fixed?

my liquid a1 with fear_4.008.08 rom has not this problem fortunately.. something was done by roggin and co. on cm7.. you may try that roms if something changes.

This seems to be an hw bug perhaps.

It's Gingerbread issue, doesn't it?

No, I have it on 2.2 (4.002.14+LCR-F 2.0).

I think so too. But if it were possible to make adjustments to the calibration data ...

In MIUI it feels just as responsive in the sides as in the middle of the screen, but I have not tested it in a touchscreen-test programme yet, and for as long as I do not notice anything weird I will not test it either. :D

Try MIUI 1.3.25 version and see B)

1.4.1 would not be better?

I am still waiting for truecolor to update his first post with an English version of MIUI :D

So I have no idea if it works just as good as it works in 1.3.25.

Tried MIUI, no changes in touchscreen accuracy. So it's hw bug.

Maybe it is something with the calibration in Liquid E? I have an A1 and so far I have no trouble hitting P on the keyboard...

A1 also appears this problem, some owners have complained...

I saw that after I wrote it, too lazy to edit my post... :D

My Liquid S100 has had this problem too.

Do you have it or not..?

I've got this problem, too.. the very edge of the screen (all around) seems to have a bit of a 'dead zone'.. for example when holding it vertical, it usually takes 3 or 4 tries to type the letters P or Q.. just testing it out now, and the only way to touch them is by really pressing on W or O, but right close to the edge of it, and that registers as P/Q..

noticed it while dragging icons on the desktops also - if I move an icon all the way left or right to move it to the next screen, 9 times out of 10 it'll just place it down as if I'd taken my finger off.. same with Angry Birds - if I'm pulling on a bird and it's too close to the edge of the screen, it launches.

I think it's a universal bug

I noticed this too - it was not so bad on stock Kernel, but after flashing all the new MT OC Kernels, It was super bad.... Had no touch on the entire bottom of the screen at all... After using the new Chocolate kernel for T&L, everything is perfect. My screen is extra sensitive and all my corners including the 'Dead' bottom is perfect. Funny eh? It also fixed some audio loudness issues as well. This proved to me that the problem is not hardware related - for me anyway - the Choco kernel fixed the issue for me.

I tried the chocolate kernel for LCR-F, get a little better, but did not solve the problem completely. Maybe someone knows how to change the calibration data? Who can help?

May be its hardware problem with youe device? Because choco kernel works perfect on my device, no dead zones. Now I working on stock kernel with patches from choco. With multitouch patch and deadzones patch it works good.

But my touchscreen does not have dead zones. It has a good sensitivity everywhere, but there are areas with wrong calibration...

I have this problem too. I found a script wich can be used in gscript (it is in the market):

#!/system/bin/sh

sensitivity=45

noise=450

echo "set sensitivity to $sensitivity"

echo $sensitivity > /sys/devices/platform/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-005c/sensitivity

echo "set noise to $noise"

echo $noise > /sys/devices/platform/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-005c/noise

echo "done"

Hopefully it still works after a copy-paste :) I found it on the liquid section of this forum. Stock sensitivity is 75 (both for sensitivity and noise). If you put in a low sensitivity value of 20 or something like that you will get random touches .. I found this config work pretty decent. I use this script on a Now Acer from without root .. only when i reboot my phone i have to re-run this script.

Snow the edges and corners of the screen finally work. Too band Acer uses cheap screens :(
