Guest Snipperdag Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Hey all, I've been on flb-froyo-r11b for quite a while now, not wanting to change due to the overall lagginess of my SF when I installed some of the newer roms. However today I randomly decided to replace the launcher in both cm7-r4 and SS-rls4 with the original launcher2 from r11b and they are both flying for me. :D I noticed the launcher2.apk included with ss-rls4 is 527262 bytes bigger so I'm wondering what changed and what did I lose rolling back to the older version. Google didn't find anything useful or a forum search (just threads on try launcher pro or gingerbread launcher if you don't like the existing ones). Thanks in advance.
Guest Quu Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 So you installed android 2.2 launcher to android 2.3.3?
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 I've done this aswell. It works amazingly. My preffered choice of launcher. That was, until I used the stock 2.3 launcher apk rather than the stock 2.2 launcher apk. I think switching between homescreens is faster The most notable difference is using the 2.2 launcher on 2.3 means you can't use the "phone" shortcut that is at the bottom of each screen (dock?) This is no longer the issue with the 2.3 launcher. Because the 2.2 launcher links to "dialer.apk" and the 2.3 launcher to "phone.apk". Because 2.3 uses phone .apk, and does not have a dialer .apk, using the button on the froyo launcher results in the toast notification "application not installed on your phone" Of course, not an issue with the stock 2.3 launcher :D

I'm grabbing your Launcher2 from the other topic now. It doesn't appear to match the one used in SS4 again either so I'm looking forward to seeing the difference. B)
