Guest adnewall Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Hi, I've been searching for this problem and have come up with zero other finds. Basically the Twitter app is constantly downloading under 3G. I've used 3G watchdog and spare parts to track it. The night before last I realised it downloaded 700mb over night (7 hours). So I quickly uninstalled it, which obviously stopped the massive use. After installing again last night, I left the Blade on Wifi (not sure if spare parts tracks on wifi) but didn't seem to download any. I've gone through the twitter settings, syncing contacts, notifications, auto refresh. None change it. And because of this huge network usage my battery is getting hammered. Has anyone seen this before, or how I can fix it?
Guest adnewall Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Any help? Turning background data seemed to stop it. But as soon as I opened the twitter app it downloaded a nice 6mb. Also some programs apparently require background data to be on and I also want to receive emails - hence why I'd like to be able to leave the data on constantly.
Guest sambartle Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 You using the official Twitter app or another one? The whole point of twitter is fast small messages.. it shoudn't use 700mb in your lifetime if its on 24/7 never mind in a night. It sounds like you have a rogue twitter app..
Guest adnewall Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 Thanks for replying. That would make some sense. It was the app that came with JJ. The one I reinstalled from the market is published by 'Twitter, Inc.', so as far as I know it is the official app. I am in the same mind that it shouldn't be using that much usage.
