Advent Vega upgraded.....

Recommended Posts

Firmware flashed to V1.09 and custom ROM R8 installed, the whole process took about half a day and I will admit that the getting the Android bridge drivers working properly was a real sod......... and included a lot of head scratching and searching on this site.

The reason for this post is that I see a lot of people struggling to flash their Advent firmware or upgrade to to custom ROM, don't give up, the information you that you need in order to upgrade your Advent Vega is on this site and you will get there.

In case any one is wondering the pc used to perform the upgrades is an Acer Aspire running Wndows 7 64 bit.

Now time to download some interesting "Market" apps.........

Glad to here you got it sorted the ADB and its drivers on windows are a bit of a bear but its worth persevering with or just bypass it with a linux liveCD if you get ratty. The nice thing is that now clockwork mod works fine on the vega you don't need to use ADB more than once.

I too successed in flashing my ROM yesterday and re-installing adobe flash player 10.1. I did find it very frustrating to find the information I needed, yes it's all on this forum (thanks Paul!) but I think there needs to be a pinned thread with all the info we need in one place.

Once I had download the relevent files and the PDF instructions on how to install everything it wasn't to bad. Anyway just the thoughts of newbie

Now just trying to buy a Micro SD card to install some media on.

Cheers to everyone that has provided instructions and firmware to make the Vega an enjoyable tablet to use.

Yes did mine in about 30mins or so, the drivers were the main "pain in the ass", but thanks to the guys on here it went quite smoothly. Quick question is the clockwork mod included in the rom? I see a recovery logo in the apps draw? is this the clockwork mod, because looking at the sticky for the clockwork mod it uses the same logo?

If you flashed stock 1.09 then modaco r8 and no other ROM inbetween then you do not have CWM yet. You have the apk to boot into recovery, but the CWM recovery.img is not on your device yet.

You still have to flash CWM, or you use a custom ROM with CWM. I think the corvusROM has it.

easiest way to install cwm without any of teh pitfalls early users had is to use the excellent solidares vega tools 3 its as easy as connecting to your pc and pushing a button, it will also add other stuff as well if you want it.

CWM opens the vega up even more for you as you can then fully back up and restore but also install new roms without connecting to your pc.

happy playing :)
