Guest leebut Posted February 11, 2003 Report Posted February 11, 2003 New Orange SPV community visit here [Edit by Site Admin = No blatant site advertising without checking with me! (Especially when it's a clone of this site )] please help it grow :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 11, 2003 Report Posted February 11, 2003 Oh noooooo another modaco clone  :) I'll bit my lip and say no more ;)
Guest HelloDave Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 It does look suspiciously like MoDaCo, but with a nice subtle "Please donate money" link at the top of the page. Think i'll stay here :) It does use a very subSilver like theme though, a bit like this site used to have, sob  (sorry Paul )

Guest Lojt Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Is this forum not enough? Why do we need another one?
Guest TSCRYPTO Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Yeah, Modaco is the duck's nuts as far as I am concerened. A great forum. I'm staying put!
Guest madu Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Yeah, why would we want another one of those empty useless sites - as for me, I find it hard to keep up with this one. And sometimes (rarely) visit MS newsgroup. What's the point of 'double-foruming' if this place is pretty much sufficient. (We need attachment capability P!!)
Guest castlebrae Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 I couldn't agree more, I'm saying put!
Guest Matt Whitfield Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 The attachment mod is quite easy to do on phpBB, but the issue is whether or not Paul has enough paid for bandwidth to handle all the downloads that would generate, as getting a huge unexpected bandwidth spike can often cost a lot of money with the hosting company... BTW, I think it's very rude to blatantly cross-advertise sites of exactly the same nature on someone else's site. Naughty leebut :)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Attachment capability is the very next thing I am adding :) P
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Then IRC integration after that? :)
Guest tom Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 I personally would love to be able to turn off the avaters - this site's not the fastest in the world, and I hate constantly navigating with the loading bit in the corner going round whislt it downloads all the extra graphics. (which, of course, I don't approve of :))
Guest HelloDave Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Avatars I can live with, but don't start me on giant images in sigs! (Not mentioning any names *cough* DJ Watts *cough*)

Guest Rog Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Any body remember the snow flakes? Now that slowed the site down. As for all these MODACO clones, whilst it is flattering I do wonder why ppl do it (and it's rude).
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Yeah, gets on my nerves a bit too... I set up and run this site and don't get any financial reward (no banner ads now!), run great competitions, and do my best, sob sob.... :) MS have made me an MVP tho, that's pretty cool ;) P
Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 It's kind of flattering, tho'. Especially when they post cut-and-pasted chunks verbatim from Modaco. (Which was the only useful information on the yahoogroups site... aside from a few handy downloads.)
Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 what handy downloads? I didn't look too closely - just long enough to check the number of members (59) and the number of posts (15 including the "welcome") One of the posts was a straight cut-and-paste from this site (on how to decertify, if I recall) three of the others were autogenerated by Yahoo when someone uploaded a file to the group's shared storage area. Three or four games? Ron
