Guest talky Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) Ok I've had my Blade for a while, been running FLB Froyo G2 r9b. Everything works perfectly, except for the battery life. In it lasts as long as expected when using it, but in Standby it seems to drain at a rather high rate. (Sometimes 5% per hour, with 3g and wifi turned off) However this doesn't seem to always happen, right after a reboot when i haven't opened any applications the battery seems to last long. But once i do some stuff on the phone, like play Angry Birds or whatever and then put it into standby, the drain in standby is unusually large. FLB r9 is supposed to have very good battery life, so i don't think the ROM is the issue. If anyone has any suggestions i'd be glad to hear them. Oh yeah, the battery statistics in the settings don't show anything unusual. Edited April 8, 2011 by talky
Guest Lew247 Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 Please READ the posts IN the FLB thread you would know if you've been reading it that it's been superceeded the latest was R11b The battery issue was discussed at length in the thread

Oh yeah, the battery statistics in the settings don't show anything unusual. Bought my step-son one of these, rooted, unlocked it and flashed MCR r12 .. and the battery life is appalling. I am using it for a week, because I didn't believe it when he kept saying it had run out of power - proof positive in that it I had to charge it TWICE yesterday to get through to the evening, all I did was some browsing, a couple of short vids, no calls and couple of texts. It's disgraceful! Anyone know where to get a higher capacity battery for this?
Guest Azurren Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) Best to use the latest version of Swedish Spring of FLB mod (Or Cyanogen Mod 7 ofc) Turn wifi and GPS off when not using it. Also "use only 2g networks" unless you are using 3g (Real big battery drainer) Keep facebook / twitter syncs (and other apps) to about 1hour (Default 15mins) Check if you phone is sleeping. <1min after the screen is turned off the phone should go into "deep sleep". If you can wake it by using the menu / back / home buttons then the device isn't sleeping and is seriously draining the battery Some apps can prevent the phone from sleeping The phone should last about a day with moderate usage, charge every night and your good. The Blade doesn't have great battery life, but sadly neither does any smartphone. Edited April 8, 2011 by Azurren
Guest talky Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) Please READ the posts IN the FLB thread you would know if you've been reading it that it's been superceeded the latest was R11b The battery issue was discussed at length in the thread I'm sorry, but i did search in that thread for battery issues, and the only suggestion i saw was recalibrating the battery, which i did, and wiping the battery cache, which i also did. Also r9b has a faster autofocus with the 5MP camera, so i'd like to stick with that. Please tell me where exactly it was discussed about the battery drain, and what to do about it. Oh and yes, i did make sure that the phone enter standby, everything is disabled, push notifications and background data are disabled, so i really don't know what else to try. Others mention getting almost 8 days of standby, i only get one. Edited April 8, 2011 by talky
Guest Azurren Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) I completely forgot about battery re-calibration: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...bration-protip/ Warning: If you do not follow the above guide and just "wipe" the battery status then you will seriously effect your battery life This is completely reversible and doesn't damage your battery. Don't worry Sometimes you have to do this everytime you flash a new rom.. You will see results almost instantly :D Edited April 8, 2011 by Azurren

I really have no idea what else to try, except for installing a new ROM, which is a rather drastic solution and not really guaranteed to work either.

If you do a nandroid backup then you can easily restore everything exactly how it was. So you really have nothing to lose :D Try Cyanogen.. if that doesn't work then you know there is something wrong with your device / battery
Guest ColdEmbrace Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 I found an easy recilbration battery tip. Need time to see if it works. http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/calibr...ry-calibration/
Guest talky Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 Ok I've switched to Swedish Spring 4b, "seems" to be better now. Will see how much battery the phone loses overnight.

Some ROM seem to be better(FLB9, Paul's 2.1) and some seem to be worse (FLB11b, Seb De-crossed, Swedish Spring). Really odd to be honest.
