LG Optimus 2X Newbie - Where to Start?

Hi all,

I've just ordered myself an Optimus 2X that'll be arriving on Tuesday. I've read a lot of the posts here talking about custom ROMs, and whilst I do IT for a living I've never flashed an Android handset. I looked at trying to install Cyanogen on my G1, and it seemed way too complicated for my liking!

Is there a particular ROM that you'd recommend I install? I've read posts about a rather amusing bug that causes UI glitches, so I'd like to address that, but I'm not sure which ROM is which and where I should start.

Any advice for a newbie owner would be much appreciated. Heh, whilst I might be new to the 2X, I've been a member here since my old Orange SPV phone...

first of start with rooting your phone.

than install the clockwork mod this is a musthave.

followed by a nandroid backup for a restore later on.

than install some rom like the vanilla one or the other ones found here.

Although if you are installing a rom from here then you don't need to root first, install clockworkmod, backup and then flash rom of choice.
