Touch panel driver update sounds interesting, wonder what effect it has...

Wait, can someone quickly explain what that is? What is this firmware update to us vega users?

Edit: ah, they mean ROM, not firmware, don't they.

can we push rc8 over the top of that?

I have!

I have!

I might be wrong, but as far as I know rc8 is a full ROM, so installing it "over" V1.10 is not possible. It simply replaces the V1.10 ROM.

MP2005, I guess that you're just making LOL, but just in case; I do hope that POV tests its firmwares before releasing them in the wild! Thus the 'old' date.

Anyway, I hoped that they would be to busy with honeycomb for this....

Maybe I misunderstood, by RC8 were you referring to the latest Modaco add-on? I didn't think it replaced it just went on top??? My kernel is now mck though.

Mine came with v1.10 so I don't have anything to compare it to but screen is really responsive. What was the 50% volume issue? I've run this through a speaker at full volume, seemed fine though not fully tested.

Please teach me. The only r8 that I know is the ROM coming from the MoDaCo kitchen. And this replace the kernel and the complete system folder and the boot.img.

What is rc8? I searched the whole forum for it but cannot find any downloadable thing.

just put this on my vega seems to working nicely, permanant usb host is nice and I've installed wireless file transfer pro from the market which is free and gets over the need to use some sort of usb slave switcher for transfering files from my pc etc. :)

It's an old update and doesn't have anything we don't already have as far as I know. Also the R8 is a full rom unlike the others, it is built on an vega update but its very different but no update since from a manufacturer has added anything that the R8 doesn't have and many things missing that it does.

Will the firmware overwrite the clockwork mod?

Yes

The volume tweek is of interest to me - the crew at Samdroid did similar for the Samsung i5700 handsets running their 2.1/2.2 firmware, and it made the speaker actually usable, as opposed to some kind of cruel joke. Shame the i5700 genuinely isn't quick enough to handle 2.2 properly though.

Are there any changes to the volume levels in the Modaco ROM? I only used the direct download (before I registered) rather than the kitchen so don't know if it's much different in terms of the setup of it/extra tweeks.

I'd like to solve the volume too, and to answer your question the issue persists on the MoDaC0 r8 ROM (i.e. volume level settings from 0% to 50% actually change the volume, but the levels from 50% to 100% produce no increase in volume). :)

:) Update is from 7.3.11 = old and not new :)

Yes, I can confirm this firmware update (or ROM, if you prefer) was released on March 7th...

Have been using it for a couple of weeks now and runs quite nice...

Had to root it myself and mod it to my likings to make it really usable :)

I tried this but couldnt flash r8 over it wouldnt find device on my netbook or laptop, so flashed to 1.09 then r8 to get everything back again what a farse i did like the 3d launcher on it though. Pity we cant have that and break down the firmware and get paul to include better hings from it lke wifi, bluetooth etc

I flashed this on my vega but having problems with my wifi. Is there a fix for that? I think the wifi cards are different and there was a way of pushing the wifi driver over to the vega but looked everywhere and cannot find it. If someone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

I personally think this firmware is the most responsive and nicest yet. It's just a shame that the USB is useless. I tried using the usb switcher from the r8 ROM but it just keeps locking up. It's the same with the clockwork mod. Back to Vega 1.09 for me.

If you want the 3d GUI, here it is:
