Guest PurpleRob Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 Asus have released the Kernal Code (downloadable) for their OS on their Transformer pad, does this mean HC could be on it's way? http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=gHh4q7I8dvWJzhdV Rob
Guest Lennyuk Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 I fail to see what your thinking? 1) This is an incomplete source 2) AOSP still not released, and not going to be released any time soon 3) This is completely different hardware, it can be ported but offers us nothing new to say doing a port from the Xoom rom
Guest Shaizer Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 Yupp we need the AOSP for honeycomb to be released to really dig into the honeycomb software, the main problem I can see with honeycomb on the Vega is the limited internal storage, all honeycomb tablets right now rely solely on internal storage to store both system and third party apps even if they have an SD card slot like the Xoom, it isn't functional right now. As brilliant as our devs are right now they can't perform miracles and make a HC rom for the Vega from just the Xoom rom or kernal source.

While i agree with everything you said about hc for the vega, the reason sd cards dont work atm in honeycomb is because of the large internal memory that they have. The internal memory is still partitioned, 2gb for internal memory, and 30gb acts as internal sd card, and its the second source of sd card that doesnt work with hc. For an example, if you look at the ports of hc to the nexus1 and htc desire, the sd card works aas normal. However the ports of hc to the galaxy s, which already have an internal sd card, the sd card dont work.
