Just wanted to say "hi" and to thank a few people who've already helped me through the first 7 days of Vega ownership.

After deciding on the Vega I trundled along to my local PC World. I was lucky as my 3 Bristol stores all had stock. The first salesman was honest and got someone who "knew about tablets." This chap proceeded to tell me the Galaxy tab was better and had a better processor etc.... he was quickly dispatched to the old couple wanting a "nice laptop."

Walked away with the Vega and set to flashing it straight out of the box. R8 went on straight away thanks to my lethargy to early adopt Vista!! So XP loaded everything first time and I was immediately working with a super tablet. MoDoCo became the first "favourite" webpage...

An hour later I had a brick with the "starting USB protocol" issue and was a little nervous. Googling the issue took me straight back here, took longer to search several threads to get the solution than to figure the reset procedure and 20 mins later had reloaded stock, then Paul's r8 Rom.

So basically I've left the USB switcher alone, realised how to make it a USB storage device and loaded films and audio onto the (eBay 21 quid) 32gb micro sd card from my imac and all is well...

Issues?

Screen sometimes doouble types...as you can see, or gets super sensitive or insensitive. Probably a female tablet then? ;-)

Power on can be interesting. Sometimes a quick press starts it up, othertimes it needs a long press to get "booting...."

Only flash quirk is occassionally I can't swipe down the page without first slightly zooming in... tried 10.1 and 10.2 settled on 10.2. And then browser shuts down for no reason.

So if you've just got one... go have fun. Looking forward to a decent USB host fix for my "3" 3g dongle but a minor gripe..

Long ramble but a thanks to all the posters who've helped me, you don't know who u are.. I missed the price drop and got tab+ case for 260 quid.. very acceptable me thinks! And above all, "trust me on the sunscr...." well actually, trust the search function..all the answers are here.

I'm guessing this happens when you're charging your Vega? This happens to me aswell (not always though, weird). Is a common problem.

I think the Vega is sensitive to a 'noisy' power supply. I found that the PSU for my cheap LCD photo frame was same voltage, current and connector so I tried that (as I could do with a spare PSU). The Vega was unusable while that PUS was plugged in, and interestingly it the PSU also disrupted a nearby FM radio.

I am going to get one of the Argos Multivoltage PSU's when I get the chance and see how that fares as a spare.

There have been good reports in another thread which is why I will get one, and at less than £10 you can't go far wrong.

I've had my Advent Vega just over 24 hours and had huge problems getting the usb drivers installed due to my hardware: an old ex linux Eee pc with 8gb sdd 6gb is filled with Windows Xp and my MSI U135 netbook with Windows 7.

I finally did it but just couldn't get the firmware Advent Vega 1.9 update installed, so because I had clockwork mod and Z4root installed I decided to go for the juggular and attempted to flash it with Pauls R8 via sd card. It didn't go 1st time, so tried again and it worked.

So now I have adobe flash 10.2 Pauls R8 and it works fantastically well.

Actuallly, the power supply wasn't connected when I had most problems. Will follow those threads as that's a new one on me...
