I've just tried plugging the Asus into a PC for the first time (and the MicroSD card is definitely writable YAY) and I've noticed that it's not connecting as a USB Mass Storage device but like the Xoom it's connecting using the MTP protocol.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_Transfer_Protocol

Since windows has built in support for MTP this just seems to mean that the device doesn't get an actual drive letter but appears in a different section of the explorer window.

For OSX it's a slightly different matter though as Apple don't include MTP support in the OS so you'll need to use a 3rd party application.

I'm trying Android File Transfer from here http://www.android.com/filetransfer/ and it seems to work just fine.

It does mention a limit on the maximum size of files transferred of 4GB, but I don't know if that's a limitation of this particular problem, the disk format used by Honeycomb or a limitation of the MTP protocol.

There's more information on MTP and what devices/OSes support it on the wikipedia page linked to above.

hmmmm... I have been having trouble installing MTP drivers on my Win XP SP3 machine. Even after directing to the drivers I found on the ASUS website. Reading that wiki, it says it need WMP 10+, and I am still on 9 as I never bothered to update it as I never use it. Installing updates now, so hopefully that will do the trick.

EDIT:- Huzzah! It solved the issue. Simples! Do to my ongoing WiFi issues highlighted in the other thread, I have been manual installing apps, but have only been able to do it via the ASUS sync software. Now I can transfer my apks over and my media files aswell through Explorer. So again... Huzzah!

Yeah, I'm having problems transferring files from Ubuntu, even adding the mtp-tools isn't detecting the Transformer *sigh*.

For the moment I'll have to transfer stuff using the SD card slot.
