Guest MrsGeek Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 I think it's a ZTE and know it's been rebranded as Miami for Orange as have seen it in the Argos catalogue for vodaphone I think. Does anyone know much about it, I'm thinking of getting a second line for work and was going to get another SF but if a miami is more cost effective and I can debrand it I'll go for that. Orange have the black one on sale for £20.

But for a kid(a young one, not one who has sights on a dangleberry or a smartphone), or as an emergency phone, maybe, otherwise, :) IMO. Edited April 9, 2011 by RottenFoxBreath
Guest Shadow_2k Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 According to google the Miami is a ZTE G-N281 Low-Cost smartphone that isn't based on Android. In case you are looking for a cheap Android handset, the t-mobile pulse mini pink from Huawei might be the better choice.
Guest MrsGeek Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 Great thank you, I have just been looking up specs and discovered it wasn't android. Will certainly consider that pulse mini. Was reading up on the thread about it.
Guest Roph Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Great thank you, I have just been looking up specs and discovered it wasn't android. Will certainly consider that pulse mini. Was reading up on the thread about it. Before my san fran I had a miami :) The resistive screen isn't that bad, it's pretty accurate and sensitive, though I may have just gotten one from a good crop. The screen underneath is nothing impressive though, 240x400 and the colours quickly invert if you look at it from funny angles. The battery lasts forever, I still have my miami here, it's still switched on after nearly 2 weeks. You're right that it's made by ZTE. The phone's OS is a little strange, it feels like it was originally designed for a phone with physical buttons and then had touch functionality tacked on. For "apps" you're stuck with only Java J2ME, though the java versions of Opera Mini and eBuddy do run pretty well on it. It's free to unlock too. You can't do any debranding so you'll still be stuck with the orange theme everywhere. Overall I'd recommend it if you don't care for android and just want a simple cheap touchscreen phone, but it's pretty basic and lacking. Sorry for the picture quality, I had to use an even more ancient phone's camera :)

Guest MrsGeek Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Thanks roph, that's really useful. Shame it can't be debranded but hey it would be a second phone mainly kept for calls and emails.
