Guest pedrojaime Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 (edited) I have have had this device (my first Android phone) and been getting addicted since since I got it on 20th March 2011 and while learning and experimenting with different roms I have made some mistakes along the way.. Today, in an effort to get 3G working again I have gone from Huawei U8220-6 with 2.1 but no 3G to seemingly nothing. I say nothing because the screen comes on but I see absolutely nothing... If only I could get AmonRA installed and booting again, I think I could get a nandroid backup of Ecuador 1.5 back on it with 3G. The problem however is that I cannot get clockwork recovery or amonRA mode, fastboot or see Android start and come up. I have hope however since I think it DOES boot up because it plays a tune after connecting the usb cable and pressing the volume buttons up and down, implying Android is up but not displayed.. The screen IS on but totally blank. Please help me recover from this situation as I don't want to screw it up beyond its present zombie state! I also installed android-sdk on Archlinux and get: peter /opt/android-sdk $ adb devices List of devices attached ???????????? offline [/codebox] I then tried: [codebox]peter ~/HUAWEI-U8220/RECOVERY/1.5.2-pulse-amonrarecovery $ ./install-recovery-linux.sh < waiting for device > I don't want to experiment more without being 100% sure what I am doing Running lsusb gives: Bus 001 Device 028: ID 12d1:1501 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Guest xtianriv Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 primero tienes q bajarte el time machine de huawei que esta entre alguno de estos post, tambien de la pagina de huawei puedes bajarte la rom que viene de fabrica en los telefonos aqui en ecuador... primero copias la carpeta dload de el time machine al directorio base de la sd, apagas y presionas vol arriba el boton rojo y el de encender al mismo tiempo... se va a actualizar en 5 segundos... sacas la bateria y ahora reemplazas esa carpeta dload por la que viene en la rom de ecuador y haces lo mismo... eso es todo...
Guest pedrojaime Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 OK, making some good progress here :) This last symptom of getting sd card mounted via USB prooved to me that Android was in fact up. Following this logic, I attempted to get into fastboot mode. Although I could not see any blue screen, I DID in fact press the correct key combination and was able to get into fastboot mode. I know this for a fact since after pressing these keys, I was able to run: -- peter ~/HUAWEI-U8220/RECOVERY/1.5.2-pulse-amonrarecovery $ ./fastboot-linux flash recovery recovery-RA-pulse-v1.5.2.img sending 'recovery' (3768 KB)... OKAY writing 'recovery'... OKAY -- I then removed the battery and tried recovery mode key combination. Once again, I got a totally blank screen but could proove I had an invisible recovery mode running since (still in recovery mode) I connected the usb cable to linux and ran 'adb devices' SUCCESS! I get: peter ~/HUAWEI-U8220/RECOVERY/1.5.2-pulse-amonrarecovery $ adb devices List of devices attached HW60F5E2189DCE65C7 recovery Once again, I started the phone and was able to mount the sd card as external storage (by tapping repeatedly in various parts of the screen. I then deleted the current 'dload' folder and replaced this with the official 1.5 Huawei downgrade package (dload.zip). with this in place, I unmounted the sd card on linux and pulled the battery on the phone. Then I booted in recovery mode again and following these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625950 I ran the commands: peter ~/HUAWEI-U8220/RECOVERY/1.5.2-pulse-amonrarecovery $ adb devices List of devices attached HW60F5E2189DCE65C7 recovery peter ~/HUAWEI-U8220/RECOVERY/1.5.2-pulse-amonrarecovery $ adb shell / # recovery --update_package=/sdcard/dload.zip After waiting for 18 minutes with no # prompt, I pulled the battery and tried to boot the phone normally but still nothing, now trying UK official 1.5 rom (renaming the zip to update.zip) - just want to get the OS to boot normally again. Waited 12 min this time but nothing again. Guest pedrojaime Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Gracias xtianriv!! :) worked like a charm! The timemachine that worked on this phone in case anyone needs it is here: http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...ix-chinese-rom/ This got the screen to come on again but no touchpad. Then tried this one: http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...out-the-backup/ ahora instale Ecuador Movistar 1.5 - todo muy bien 3G, touchpad - perfecto! muchisimas gracias amigo :) Peter P.D> es buena idea ir de 1.5 -> gingerbread 2.3 y retener funcionalidad 3G o mejor flashear paulatinamente 1.5>2.1>2.2>2.3? Now its all working after: 1. Timemachine flash 2. Movistar official 1.5 flash Is is a godd idea to flash directly up to Gingerbread from 1.5 or better to flash 1.5>2.1>2.2>2.3? Thanks a lot for your help ! Peter
Guest pedrojaime Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 I have gone from Movistar 1.5 to Venezuela 2.1 retaining 3G before but don't seem to be able to do this anymore, not sure why. Surely Timemachine>movistar 1.5 gives a clean environment?? Has anyone got some tricks to get to 2.1 without loosing 3G for Ecuador please? thanks, Peter
Guest Casterina Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Is is a godd idea to flash directly up to Gingerbread from 1.5 or better to flash 1.5>2.1>2.2>2.3? Thanks a lot for your help ! Peter I would recommend you go from 1.5 to the offical UK update (2.1) and then flash 2.3. although, the system partition is small on the 2.1, it'll increase as i believe when you use 2.3. If you don't like the 2.3 ROM, downgrade to 2.2 :)
Guest pedrojaime Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) This is the link which helped me get to 2.1 retaining 3G for latin America if anyone else needs to know. *Note this update guide is in Spanish thanks everyone! :) http://u8220.blogspot.com/2010/12/actualiz...android-15.html Peter Edited April 18, 2011 by pedrojaime
